I have two of these... one I suspect is just flaky as it is, probably from shipping or something, but one system pull I just got recently. Card is installed in a 9500/450MHz PowerLogix G4 running 10.2.4 (very stable) with an original ATI XClaim or whatever 4 MB card, an ATI Rage Orion, a MacAlly USB card, and a 21143 10/100 fast ethernet card. Hard drives are 4 IBM UltraWhatever 4.5 GB drives in a Sun 911 4 bay case. They're all tested and good. The card works fine in OS 9 and mount the hard drives attached to them etc... However, in X the hard drives do not mount or show up in the Drive Tool. The PCI card does show up in System Profiler and everything. Is there something I'm missing? I don't see why OS X would be like Solaris/other UNIXs' where you have to reconfigure /dev to get access to the other hard drives once they're attached... but maybe this is due to Old World ROMs, etc? |

I recently bought this card from OWC and installed it into a 9500. I was able to boot from this drive into OS X with no problems. This boots from an internal drive. I saw drivers similar for a version of the 2930 on Adaptec's website but it said if you have Jaguar you don't need them. Are you having trouble with external scsi drives? I do have a external drive i can try this weekend to see if I have problems with the external drive. I did notice that maybe some drives aren't bootable. I have a 9 gig scsi i bought from ebay that mounts but I am not able to boot from. I bought another drive from OWC and use that to boot from. |

Hi Marty: I found the drivers for OS X on the CD that came with a card I bought some time ago. I must pass on a couple of caveats: #1 the 2930CU I bought from OWC was, much to my chagrin, exactly the same card as I had installed in the machine earlier. #2 It may boot with OS 9 but it does NOT boot a drive with OS X installed on it even if the OS X drivers have been installed in that system. Sorry to dredge up old history, but I now have one of these cards from OWC also. It works nicely with OS9 on my 8500 with NewerTech G3-300 but I get the same problems tclare describes when trying to boot OS 10.2.4. How do I get the "OS X drivers" for 2930 cards mentioned by Itking? And how would I "load" them into OS X? Thanks, Marty |

Hi tclare: If memory serves me (and it sometimes does not) I believe you need to load the OS X drivers fot the 2930 series cards. These are "built it" for earlier OS's but are separate for OS X (or at least they were for my 2930U). Cheers, ltking |
