I have never had a compelling reason to use OS 9, and I have only used "Classic" when it has started on its own. The last couple "Classic" applications I use often will not run well on OS 9 so to use them effectivelly it is necessary to boot to OS 8.6 anyway. I would perfer to simply throw OS 9 away and use OS 8.6. I realize I would not have a "Classic Environment", but that really does not matter. No, XPostFacto does not work with Mac OS 8.6. The reason is that XPostFacto needs to copy files with long file names from the Mac OS X Install CD, and the APIs to do that only appeared in Mac OS 9. I might be able to work around that problem somehow if I took some time to try. It isn't really high on my list of priorities, but people do ask about it from time to time, so I should spend a little time on it some rainy day. |
