Sometimes when you have installed a new SSD (including the OS) and attempt to boot from it, the boot sequence can take an unusually long time. This can happen when the default Startup Disk setting has not been updated. Go to Apple > System Preferences > Startup Disk and make sure you select the OS on your new SSD, then click restart button. Thereafter the SSD should immediately be recognized as the default system drive when starting the computer, greatly speeding up the boot process.
