This is a fast computer that meets my upgrade needs. My criticism is that the connections are rather clunky so you will need all sorts of hard drive enclosures and thunderbolt interfaces to make it work well. However, once up and running it's a great computer. I would recommend this item to a friend! I have purchased 3 of these for my employees and all three have proven to be solid capable Mac Workstations. And at a fraction of the cost of a brand new Mac Pro! Yes, I could look at the Mac Studio, but cost and expand-ability at still main concerns. Until then, this Mac Pro does the job in a most excellent manner! I would recommend this item to a friend! Very fast machine, only one issue

The machine is fast and smooth, and was very easy to set it up (once i got an hdmi cable).
The only issue is that when it first started, it wanted to upgrade to Catalina. Wisely or foolishly i let it, although i remember reading that the the machines come with the latest OS already on them. After the Catalina upgrade, it wanted to apply some patch. The patch didn't apply successfully, and the System Preferences application has a red "1" on it, meaning one update is pending.
So probably i should not have let it try to upgrade the OS.

Bought this machine to replace a 2012 i7 Mac Mini. The performance is way better than I expected. It is responsive and handles my average load quite well. Very quite as well. The new macs don't scare me, but they exacerbate apple's want more pay more ethic.
As soon as I can find an adapter for the ssd, I'll install a 4t nvme in that old trash can.
The tinkering I've done with old cheese graters has been rewarding.

Don't do it. Very bad computer.

Just don't do it. I've had nothing but issues with my refurbished MacPro. I thought this would be an upgrade over my MacMini, boy was I wrong. It's SO slow. It has some type of internal error that causes it to constantly restart and nothing seems to fix it. When I use Final Cut or Garage Band, I get a constant dip in audio that causes listening errors. This whole purchase has been a $1000.00 nightmare for my computing needs. I'll never buy refurbished again, and now I have to pay for this MacPro and the new Mac I have to buy to deal with all these errors. I think it was a good choice to purchase this system instead of a new mac mini, for instance. It performs very well for every day tasks. I haven't thrown anything heavy at it yet, but I think it is going to meet my needs for a couple of years at least. Was able to upgrade to Monterey by adding an inexpensive original Apple SSD temporarily, then I upgraded the RAM to 64 GB and the SSD to 2 TB. I would recommend this item to a friend! These machines are really good!

I have 5 of these machines with 12 cores total and 128Gigabytes of RAM. I use these computers for music composition and they really work! I have heard others down play this machine and give it that name "Trash Can Mac". But I don't need a machine that you can add lots of graphic cards and other devices internally, again most of us don't do that anyway. I purchase these machines that appear in excellent condition (Not all scuffed up or scratched), they look new. And think about it, the Mac Pro is very powerful (Up to 2 CPUs - 12 Cores) and 128Gigs of RAM! WOW! That is a truck load. Plus the machines are affordable and OWC gives you a warranty of you want one too! That's pretty nice. I had a Mac studio (Has some software and hardware issues) and the total amount of RAM is 32 Gig. I needed much more to compose my music with all the instruments and 32 Gig was not enough. It did have the M1 Max which was the only real nice thing about it. But I returned it and purchased another one of these Mac Pro computers. The Mac Pro was less money than the mac pro and you really do get allot for it. There is nothing wrong with these machines. I like them. And when I need more, I'll go to OWC and get more of them. It's kind of like a hidden secret for us music composers!

I configured a 2013 Mac Pro on OWC, maxed out a 12 core with ram & ssd space, D700 video cards.
When the unit arrived, I saw it was packed with great care. It looked as new, no visible blemishes, very clean.
Other items in the order were a mouse and keyboard, one listed in very good condition, one listed as new in apple package, also met expectations.
The Pro fired right up, went through the typical configuration bit, did it's updates and is running very smoothly.
About this mac indicates all specs were met. This unit is truly a powerful mac and a solid option for those not quite ready to drop $7500 or more on a new Mac Pro.
I have recommend OWC machines as an option to friends and colleagues. Products have always met my expectation, so I couldn't say how the customer service is. They got it right the first time, so far. I have my old Mac Pro and new Mac Pro hooked together with a KVM switch so I can switch between one and the other. Passwords is a big hassle, but manageable. Everything I do works faster.
