Rating: 4/5 Finally -- some performance from macOS! February 16, 2022 After using much older Macs for years, I grew tired of the graphical performance and started looking at Mac Pros. One online auction site had them, untested and as-is, and for ridiculous prices. I then remembered OWC from iFixit articles and my earlier Mac years. OWC had very competitive prices on 2013 Pros and offered good support, as well. I went for it. This Pro arrived in good time and was packed extremely well. This unit arrived with some deep scratches and other wear typical of this vintage, but otherwise works well. While this model is a good performer, I still feel the performance should be a little better for the price point. I know OWC didn't make the computer, so no complaints with them. For the model year, it has decent connectivity and after a Time Machine restore I was up and running with no issues. I work and live in the macOS world and I'm pleased overall with this machine compared to previous Macs. I hope to get many years of service from this! Thanks OWC!

Rating: 1/5 Very disappointed.....frustrated.....[insert bad word here]. December 9, 2021 I appreciate OWC, I think they do a great job of providing a spread and competitive pricing. I am not a computer guy. So when I needed a new Mac for my 3D modeling business (yes I SHOULD be a computer guy), I came to OWC. I looked at the newer ones, but loved the concept of a maxed out older Mac Pro. My problem is that the listing is not direct or clear that Thunderbolt 2 has been phased out and that the 6 ports available are nearly useless. Not being a computer guy, had no idea of the limitation I was buying into when I purchased my pretty brick. I would be much happier if they offered a solution to this, but that is not the case. Going from TB2 to USB-C requires a NASA degree and I graduated high school. I have 100$ of products per port attempting to convert the port....although it seems okay in concept, yet to be proven to work. In addition, having a maxed out unit doesn't mean it won't be slower than your original 2017 iMac, this new Mac Pro has noticeable lag issues for having 1000 cores and lots of RAM. Overall, sad experience and now my Christmas present to myself is holding down paper on my work desk. The return policy isn't fit for this situation since I *should have known* I was buying a lemon - shame on me. I will probably be back, but this mis-marketing has put a terrible taste in my mouth. Recommend you stick to the newer units because if they are for sale, there is a, maybe not so upfront reason, for being so. Merry Christmas!

It's the 12 Core Xeon E5 with 128 Gigabytes of RAM. So I purchased 3 more of them. The machine is small but powerful. I'm very happy with my purchase. Again, think about it this way. The Mac Pro has a warranty that is offered by OWC, there are no moving parts so it's not like a used car. It's a computer. It does the job. Yes you can purchase a new Mac pro for a-lot more money, that is your choice. But for me it was about load balancing with many Mac Pro's with a special piece of software for my business. Having 1 super duper and expensive Mac Pro wouldn't have worked due to the software limitations. So I have 4 of these Mac Pro computers and they all work great for my needs. Think about what you want to accomplish with the computer first. I'm so glad OWC had these Mac Pro's available to purchase at a fraction of the cost of buying a new one. It made perfect sense!

I had a Quad core 16gb Ram MacBook Pro which was having issues running all of the Logic vocal, midi and audio tracks on my projects. I have a WAVES SGS Extreme server which works well but didn't resolve the issues with the MBP. This Mac Pro machine - 12 cores-128 gb ram 1 TB drive-was pricey but doesn't break a sweat when handling large Logic projects. I love it!! so far. I will probably upgrade the drive to either a 2TB or 4TB drive soon.

Rating: 5/5 Factory sealed, was not opened. Looks like it came directly from apple. September 16, 2021 Nice efficient packaging. The inner box has a handle so I'm saving the box to use if I need to transport the computer. Immediately upgraded to Big Sur without issue. Using two 2560x1440 displays. One on HDMI the other thunderbolt. Also an old OWC TB2 dock connected to a Mercury Elite Pro Dual for my Time Machine and CCC backup drives. Booting stalled issues were fixed by rearranging the thunderbolt connections until the problem went away. Super quiet. Had to plug in a usb powered light to tell if it was running. At Apples site entered serial number to find date of manufacture but since it wasn't registered info wasn't available(?). I'd like to know when it was made so I know the CMOS battery age. Very happy with the Mac Pro 6,1
