An Innovative Approach to Energy Efficiency
The PowerCost Monitor™ is a home energy monitor that shows you what your household's electricity usage is from moment to moment, or over time. Your PowerCost Monitor™ uses a unique sensor technology that scans your power meter's activity and calculates your home electricity usage. This information is transmitted wirelessly to an easy-to-read home power usage display.
You simply enter your utility's electricity rate in to the display; install the sensor on your meter (both are cordless and wireless) and start seeing your power usage in real time - in dollars and cents as well as in kilowatt hours. Watching which appliances and fixtures in your home increase your electricity usage, and which changes will save you the most money, makes it easy to save power and money.
Your PowerCost Monitor ™ Includes Two Components:
The Sensor Unit attaches easily to the outside of your electric utility meter. Once fastened in place, the special sensor reads your home electricity usage in real-time and transmits the information wirelessly to the power usage monitor, located inside your home The Sensor Unit attaches easily to the outside of your electric utility meter. A wireless, durable Power Monitor that resembles a small digital clock. With a range of up to 100ft from the sensor unit, you can place it just about anywhere in your home - in the kitchen, on your nightstand or conveniently placed on the wall in your hallway. Anytime of the day, you can look at your Power Monitor to see:
- How much electricity your home is using in real time
- How much money you are spending on electricity as you consume it
- The highest amount you spent on your energy usage in a 24 hour period
- The time, the temperature at meter location, signal strength and the battery strength of both the display and sensor units.
* The PowerCost Monitor ™ only shows you what your electricity is costing you. Ultimately, it is up to you to use this information to reduce your electricity bill.
The PowerCost Monitor ™ is not a utility meter and is not intended for billing purposes. Data displayed is for informational purposes only. Due to when your meter is read by your utility and due to other utility charges, the "total" readings on your display will not exactly match what you see on your electricity bill. It is accurate within 1 percent of the actual amount, at the meter when referencing kWhs.

Meter Compatibility
The PowerCost Monitor™ is compatible with the majority - up to 90% - of power meters in North America. Meters vary regionally and by local utility so check below for your meter here to see if yours is compatible.
The PowerCost Monitor™ works by 'seeing' the moving disk or digital meter - which is visible on most meters. The sensor is compatible with most AMR, AMI, "Smart Meters". The PowerCost Monitor™ is compatible with most circular meters, standard in North America, and also is compatible with analog (electromechanical discs) and digital meters. Essentially if the sensor can "see" the disc or the optical port then high potential for compatibility.
The PowerCost Monitor™ is compatible with the following meters:
- Disk meters with Black mark clearly visible
- CENTRON C2SOD, C1S, C1R by Itron/Schlumberger(with OpenWAY module as well)
- iCon by Sensus (and those with FlexNET AMI radio enabled)
- I-210 by GE and I-210+
- R1S, R2S, REX1 and REX2 by Elster
- Echelon EM-502xx -Series "NES - Solid State Watt Hour Meter"
Incompatible Meters
The PowerCost Monitor™ is not compatible with the following meters because there is no visible pulse for the monitor to read:
- FOCUS by Landis & Gyr (Triangular port at the 3:00 position)
- All digital meters having the series models ASX/RSX by Landis & Gyr
- Schlumberger MT100/200 Hybrids
- A1T+ A1R+ and A3TL by Elster or ABB(Alpha)
- GE Kv2 Series
- GE TM-900 Hybrid (Disk behind Digital Plate)
- Altimus by Siemens and Landis & Gyr
- Disk meters with plates covering the disk and black mark
- Net Metering (Disk spinning in both Directions or digitals meters displaying bi-directional amounts)
- Quad Logic S-20 (Does not emit a watt pulse)
What If I Don't See My Meter?
Most of the meters in North America are shown above. However, if you do not see you exact meter, or have any questions about the compatibility of your meter, please contact BlueLine Innovations! Email support@bluelineinnovations.com with a picture of your meter, or call 1-866-607-2583 with your meter type and model.
Distance & Location
The PowerCost Monitor™ is designed for residential application in single unit homes and for ranges of 100 feet or less (depending on number of walls - each wall and/or floor of a house may decrease the ideal range by approximately 10-15 feet). For most houses this does not pose an issue, and moving the receiver/display to the side of the house where the meter is ensures good communication. Apartment Complexes, town/row houses, condominiums and, MDU's (Multi Dwelling Units) often have meter locations that exceed the 100 foot range specification.

Energy Saving Features
This easy-to-use energy saving product, the PowerCost Monitor™ features a large, attractive, counter-top Display Unit that looks like a small electric clock.
Not all Energy Saving Devices are Created Equal!
The PowerCost Monitor™ puts the power of clear, actionable information into your hands. At the push of a button the PowerCost Monitor™ displays, your moment-to-moment and total electricity costs in dollars and cents and in kilowatt hours. The PowerCost Monitor™ can even predict how much money your electricity bill will be for that month based on your immediate electricity usage.
The device will also show your peak energy cost within the last 24 hours - so you know when you are using the most energy. The product also displays the current time and outside temperature and has a battery indicator that lets you know when your battery power is low and a signal indicator lets you know the strength of the signal being received from the Sensor Unit.
- Appliance tab.Want to know how much a certain appliance costs to use? The PowerCost Monitor™ will tell you! Pressing the appliance function on the device will zero out your current energy consumption readings, creating a baseline measure of your power usage at that time. You then simply turn on or off an appliance or fixture(s) and the PowerCost Monitor™ will report the $ or kW impact of that change. Research identified that this is a key feature of the PowerCost Monitor™ energy saving device. This new product feature makes it easy to see how your energy usage habits can turn into energy saving habits.
- Predictive feature. A quick press on the total/est toggle will provide the user, based on actual energy consumption from the last reset, with an estimate of the 30 Day energy consumption totals in $'s or kW's. Research has identified this to be a significant new feature creating a "wow" factor - either getting an early read on expected 30 Day costs or more fully understanding the positive impact of energy consumption behavior changes in the home.
- Sleep function. Blue Line's energy saving products have a sleep function that prolongs battery life. In prior models, in the event the monitor and the sensor lost connectivity the sensor would go into "warp speed" mode constantly searching out the signal from the sensor and thus putting an excessive strain on the monitor's batteries. In the BLI 28000 should the monitor and the sensor lose connectivity the monitor will go into sleep mode - pressing any button on the monitor will bring the monitor back to ready mode.
- Expanded kH factor capability. The BLI 28000 monitor can accommodate kH factors of 0.1 to 99 and thus insure compatibility with high load service homes in North America today.
