We're sorry, but this item is no longer for sale. However, there may be more Wireless Networking » Network Adapters » Add via USB Port » 802.11ac items available.
Also, they don't yet have a Sierra compatible driver, so give it a pass if you're going 10.12 until the driver's ready.
I did expand 802.11n MacBook Pro speeds on a Late 2011 MacBook Pro 17", a 2010 MacBook Pro 17", and a 2011 MacBook Pro 13" from about 25mpbs to 100mpbs, but now my wife and daughter have to choose between fast internet or macOS Sierra.
I discovered this on my 2011, so I'm kind of stuck until a new driver becomes available.
I would recommend this item to a friend!but, when it works, there is a noticeable improvement in network speed.
i signed up for notifications of the 10.11 beta driver shortly after getting it and haven't seen any updates. 10.11 has now been released and still nothing on the vendors web site.
Plugged it in, downloaded and installed the latest driver, restarted, and connected to the network without any issue. You can select exactly which network to connect to, including the channel. Seems fast enough to me, and I am easily annoyed by slow/unreliable connections. The only thing some folks might not like is that the adapter has a little light on it. It flashes when Tx/Rx data. It's not that annoying as long as it is not in your face. I kind of like it just out of my periphery, so that I know the data is flowing.
I would recommend this item to a friend!Have been running it for a few weeks with no probs. Have now bought a 2nd one for a mac mini.
I would recommend this item to a friend!
