iTunes from Apple
by Paul Roesner Apple's iTunes is a godsend for MP3 and Live Internet Audio players. It takes the competition and throws them into the dirt. When playing around with the "other" software then moving to iTunes, it's like have 10 pounds lifted off your chest. Every feature is where you expect it to be. No questions.
Your real-time play/rewind/fast forward buttons, volume, info window and equalizer, real-time search field, and browse buttons decorate the top. The very bottom row of the window includes add play lists, shuffle, repeat, screensaver-like music graph (very cool), and active eject buttons. A line of text between these buttons tells you the number of songs selected, total playing time, and total MB used with what is current displayed in your main browser window. In the menu bar you can do things like convert to MP3, export song lists, and get CD track names, along with many other commonly used commands you would expect for a descent audio player.
To put in perspective how powerful this program can be, imagine that you are looking for a particular MP3. You can scroll down the alphabetical list and look for your song. Or you can click on the browse button, click on the band name, and scan through the band's albums. Then you can click on the album and the songs in the album will be displayed in the browser window below. Or, if that is not easy enough, type in the first few letters of the song and watch the browser window filter out everything that doesn't match your criteria in real-time! Get this software and use it! What are you waiting for, it's FREE! Go to Apple's iTunes page and download it. (3MB) |
