The new PowerBook is unquestionably the most difficult PowerBook weve ever designed., said Jonathan Ive, Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple.
Who would have seen this coming? Jan 7th 2003, the world witnessed its first 17-inch notebook at MacWorld SF. When is this madness going to stop? When is Apple going to slow down on their innovations? In my opinion, Apple will probably never slow down. They have too many good ideas they want to give to the public. Their goals are to give us attractive tools to make our digital lives easier. Theyve done it again.
1440 x 900 resolution

Thats enough to fill a 19 CRT! With this you can easily work well with Photoshops and Final Cuts palettes and toolbars, anywhere.
Got Horsepower?
Along with this gorgeous screen, comes a lot of horsepower too. For $3299, the new PowerBook 17 is packed with a 1Ghz G4 processor with a 1MB Level 3 Cache, lighting-fast NVIDIA GeForce 440 Go with 64MB DDR, 512MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM, Ultra ATA/100 60GB, SuperDrive for burning/reading DVDs and CDs, the new FireWire 800 technology, USB, the new 54mps AirPort Extreme technology, Bluetooth for syncing with electronic devices, and S-Video out for connecting to a TV to name a few.
Backlit keyboard
Brian Transeau (BT), Recording Artist, Producer said it best (in this Apple movie) when he unexpectedly found out the new feature on the PowerBook. Whats going on? <looks down> Geesh, you have to be joking me. Ohhh my God! <long pause while starring onto the keyboard> Wait, and its auto-sensing? You turn the lights down? OK This is... where, when do you guys stop thinking of cool stuff? This neon keyboard light auto-senses when the lights go out. Its an awesome feature for low light situations like studios and plane flights.
