Upgrading Memory
in your MacBook / MacBook Pro
MacBook and MacBook Pro 6GB & 8GB Testing
Until recently, MacBook and MacBook Pros have all been limited to a maximum of 4GB of memory. With the new 4GB modules now available at OWC, for the first time it's possible to have 6GB or even 8GB of memory installed in your 'mobile workstation'. Just because you can do something, it's important to answer whether the doing is worth the while.
In real-world use, the benefits are most definitely noticed and appreciated. It's a little harder to show the 4GB to 6GB to 8GB benefits with some benchmarks, but it's actually pretty easy to show how much that memory makes a difference working with a larger Photoshop file. With that being said, it's potentially of a better benefit and certainly cost savings to max out a current MacBook or MacBook Pro vs. buying a new one just for the faster processor - more memory can make more difference than more raw processor speed.
