Why Can't I Upgrade the RAM on my MacBook Pro?

If your MacBook Pro isn't listed above, there is a reason. The memory on your model isn't upgradable.

In 2017, Apple retired the non-retina line of MacBook Pros, and with that, gone was the ability to upgrade the RAM on any MacBook Pro. Why? The retina model design had memory soldered directly to the board to make it thinner, lighter, and more compact, essentially making it impossible to upgrade the RAM. This also means that RAM upgrades aren't possible for any model of MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.
