USB-C Travel Dock: 4K HDMI Display Behavior (ASUS)

In rare cases, customers using a 4K HDMI ASUS display with the USB-C Travel Dock may experience an issue where video playback is not perfectly smooth or as smooth as it is at lower resolutions. This happens only under the conditions noted below. Even then not all customers with this setup will experience the issue.

  • The host computer is a MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 3 ports, running macOS 10.13 or later.
  • The USB-C Travel Dock is directly connected to a Thunderbolt 3 port.
  • The USB-C Travel Dock is also connected via HDMI to an ASUS 4K display.
    • It is possible this may happen with other displays that have a similar internal makeup to ASUS 4K displays but we have not encountered this yet.
