Occasionally eSATA cables can feel like they're stuck in the host adapter they're connected to. Avoid pulling with too much force on the plug when removing it. Instead, try gently rocking it from side to side as you pull the plug out, or add a bit of extra pressure when pinching the sides of the plug before pulling it out. This scenario is also common with some older PCMCIA cards with eSATA slots.
