How a Thunderbolt Hub Makes Life Easier

If you get most of your work done on a laptop, chances are you would benefit greatly from a Thunderbolt Hub. These modern marvels greatly expand upon the number of displays, hard drives, chargers, and other peripherals that your laptop can interface with at once.

Connect more everything—with all the speed and compatibility you get by plugging directly into your computer—with the OWC Thunderbolt Hub. Packing 4 Thunderbolt ports and one USB-A port, you can connect more drives and more displays (up to 8K!) quickly and easily.

The Hub also provides up to 60W of dynamic power and supports transfer rates up to 40Gbps.

  • OSX Monterey broke the systems tolerance of hub-connected drives when the computer sleeps. All storage not directly connected to my Mac Studio OSX 12.5 disconnects abruptly with “failed to un-mount” warnings when the computer sleeps. This is a well-documented problem that didn’t exist with prior versions of MacOS.
(I contacted OWC support a while back … we’re waiting for Apple to resolve the problem.)
Meanwhile I’m not using my OWC Thunderbolt 4 hub.

Can you report on any progress? Thanks!

  • I own a SanDisk (storage) device and a Sabrent USB 3.0 portable Hard Drive Model EC-UM3W 2.5, never been used. I would like to know how I can use these devices to download the contents from my MacBook Pro in order to get an “empty memory” from my computer so I could “make hard drive space” to upgrade it to the latest macOS Monterrey.
I don’ t want to continue buying iCloudback up.
Thanks in advance for and advice.
