Good Product, Unfortunate Mishap

I ordered the AKiTiO Node Titan because of its solid, all metal construction; clean looks; and the good reputation I've always believed OWC to have. My 3-star rating has nothing to do with the quality of the product. The AKiTiO Node Titan itself is a fantastic eGPU.
However, my unit did not come with the advertised Thunderbolt cable in the box, which is the reason for my mediocre star rating. For whatever reason this snuck past quality control.
I emailed OWC support and they asked me to send them pictures of the packaging etc. so that they could verify that there indeed was no cable in the box. The process, from contacting support to receiving the cable that should've been in the box from the start, took two weeks. That was the disappointment with this purchase. Very Nice eGPU Enclosure

Let me start by saying shipping was fast and was packaged very well. Very easy to open the enclosure and install the GPU. Works great on my 2018 Mac mini, I did order a longer thunderbolt 3 cable, just incase the cable that came with it didn't reach. Did some CPU & GPU testing and the eGPU seemed to be working as expected. Very surprised on how quiet the unit is, even when the GPU fans come on you can't even hear them. I'm not a gammer I purchased this mostly for video and audio production. Tech & costomer support is a 5 star, I would recommend this item to a friend! The Mac Studio with OS Ventura. Is not easy to incorporate Protools 2022 with an upgrade. You must bring in other people to help because of apples protection protocols. But it possible to accomplish. I worked with Chris from OWC tech. support, who did not give himself enough credit, but was very helpful in making the process happen. He has the knowledge> I would recommend this item to a friend! My first eGPU

Seems to be a good product with a couple issues. Not really a problem, but it's huge: maybe 12 inches long, 10 inches high and about 6 inched wide. I was going to put it on my desk but ended up putting it on the floor under my desk which works fine. The included TB3 cable is pretty short so this also limits where you put the unit. The instructions are almost completely useless. Fortunately it is really easy to install a GPU in this device. The only thing that caused me pause was the additional power cables; there are 2 sets of cables: two 2 prong and two 4 prong, for a 6 prong plug on the GPU. One set worked and the other did not, no clue why. With one set, the fans on my GPU would never turn on, with the other, the fans worked fine. The power switch is a tad confusing, in that obviously it needs to be on for the unit to work, but you also have to turn it off when you turn off the connected computer, or the fans in the eGPU run constantly. My unit is connected to a Mac mini which I do power off and I didn't want the eGPU on 24/7.
The good part is I am getting 60fps in World of Warcraft. Super happy about the performance. Overall I like this device. I bought it here because everything I have bought from OWC over the years has been 100% compatible with any Mac I have used it for. I would recommend this item to a friend! Outstanding eGPU setup

I got this to go with my new Mac Mini and I must say that I am impressed. The Node Titan is a really good enclosure and I love the tool-less installation for cards. As for the card itself, I honestly wasn't expecting much considering it is only a midrange graphics card, but it runs like a champ and is able to handle pretty much everything I use it for. The fans keep the setup from overheating and they don't make much noise, which is awesome. Overall I am quite pleased. I would recommend this item to a friend! Great for rendering

Using this mainly for Resolve 16 on my 2018 Mac Mini. Speeds up workflow considerably, letting me render simple video, (HD) with basic grading and titles, almost 1.5x realtime. 4K is working at 17-20fps for renders. Before getting this box, it was like 2-10fps depending on the shot. Wow! Future proof as well, I may put in a Vega64 when I do more 4k stuff.

Huge performance increase

I use this for video production on a Mac mini (Prem Pro, Da Vinci Resolve, Avid). I have a Radeon Pro W5700 installed driving two 4K UHD monitors. The performance increase has been enormous and I can also do realtime viewing with multiple effects at full 4k 10 bit resolution and no stuttering. The only issue I've had is that if the Mac goes to sleep all the displays go black on rewake and the system has to be rebooted. This is apparently an OSX bug that effects all enclosures. Quiet, Sleek design, exactly the right size, trivial install (although a little text on the power cables would have helped). I would recommend this item to a friend! The Akitio Node Titan with W5700 replaces my Blackmagic eGPU Pro and it’s an ideal upgrade. For essentially the same cost I get a unit that’s demonstrably faster, more versatile and — a most pleasant surprise — virtually as quiet as the Blackmagic unit. The footprint of the Akitio is only slightly larger, but gives me a unit that I can upgrade as newer and more powerful cards come to market. Finally, it’s always a pleasure working with an OWC product, whose makers stand behind what they make. I would recommend this item to a friend! A well built eGPU

I received my AKiTiO Node Titan Thunderbolt 3 eGPU Enclosure with Radeon RX 580 GPU quickly, only a couple of days after placing my order. While both units are shipped together they are in their own individual packaging. The card must be inserted in the eGPU enclosure which is a simple plugin that requires no tools. The AKiTiO enclosure is extremely well built and provides both the power and cooling requirements for a more powerful graphics card upgrade at a later date if needed. The eGPU enclosure has a built-in power supply so only a standard 3-prong power cable connects the unit to power (no external large power brick.) The unit is near-silent at idle but there is a little fan hum if you listen closely. This was only apparent to me because I'm using it with a silent Mac Mini. Performance is good...many times the graphics abilities built into my Mini. It did seem large at first but upon consideration, I understand that room provides future upgradability. It was a plug and play setup and I had it up and running in about 10 mins. I'm very pleased so far with this purchase. I would recommend this item to a friend!
