I did get it, though, and was very impressed with the packing. The MacBook is in great shape, like new. (I hope it stays that way for a long time.) Getting the contents restored turned out to be easy, once I found that the Migration Tool would work with an external disk's Super Duper backup files.

The laptop dies within 30 minutes of not being plugged in and even died while plugged in when running just Chrome and Zoom. That was an isolated incident, but still not a great experience.
