What I received was a Mac that had obviously been dropped from a considerable distance several times, and was most definitely NOT in "very good" condition (or even, arguably, good). I contacted OWC and provided photos, but got the run-around, and someone would get back to me shortly. A week passed, but I heard nothing, so I contacted them again, this time by phone. after much back and forth, they persisted in their lie that the unit was in "very good" condition and they refused to do anything about my extreme dissatisfaction. The rep said he'd try one more avenue of appeal and get back to me. That was 10 days ago, and nothing. In summary: - Unit was not as advertised. - OWC refused to stand behind what they sold. - Customer service was a total joke.

Rating: 5/5 A GO-TO RESOURCE FOR MAC COMPUTERS October 11, 2022 The little known secret about Mac computers is that the newer ones are essentially unrepairable. I know one person who a few years ago bought a 2016 MacBook Pro for $3000. When, and eventually it will fail, she will certainly end up discarding and replacing it for $3000 or more--with no residual value. The newer Macs have obsolescence DESIGNED into them to maximize the profit to Apple! It now makes much more sense to purchase earlier models that are repairable. For this 2015 repairable upgradable MacBook I paid 25% of the cost of a new one. This vendor has been used for many years by those who make a living as high level, high clearance computer consultants.

Rating: 3/5 Possible Apple problem September 1, 2022 5 stars for OWC!! Ordering, shipping was great. Computer is in fine condition, works well. The only problem is that it is supposed to be upgradable to the latest OS. Tried several times, get an error about not enough space for a firmware update. Contacted OWC they replied quickly, suggested a rest of PRAM, and SRAM. No luck with that. OWC said it seems to be an Apple SSD problem that they’re seeing on other computers too. Sounds like they want me to ship it back…I’m confident they’ll make things right. The survey makes me choose an answer for "Would you recommend this product to a friend" but I’d prefer to leave that unanswered until this issue is resolved.

Rating: 5/5 Why buy a used Macbook Pro? May 24, 2022 It might seem unlikely to purchase a 7 year old laptop. But. This replaces an 11 year old MacBook Pro. My previous Powerbook 2000 lasted 15 years. Apple products are designed and built with quality components, and they last a long time if not abused. This 2015 can still run the latest software. The Retina display rivals any current product. I paid a bit extra for Other World Computing's 2 year warranty, just to feel safe. If I have the warranty, chances are I won't need it, sort of a reverse Murphy's Law. I have dealt with Other World for 20 years. When a rare hardware issue comes up, they have always stepped up to help.
