Rating: 5/5 Giving Old Things New Life April 19, 2022 I purchased this late 2012 Mac Mini for the purpose of creating a legacy multimedia desktop environment. The price was right. After upgrading the HDD with repurposed SSD's and an OWC Data Doubler, I now have an additional Mac Intel desktop to have fun with and run VM's.Best of all, I saved my Belkin Thunderbolt 2 dock, Focusrite Saffire Pro 26 (Firewire 800) interface, and 2011 Thunderbolt display from the electronic waste heap for at least a couple more years. This minimal investment has yielded great satisfaction as I didn't have to go through hundreds of units on eBay to find my desired specs and roll the dice on a seller I don't know. I have successfully completed many projects using OWC/Macsales products. Now, I feel confident that they are a good source for refurbished Macs as well. After opening the Mini (very clean, no damaged components, no missing screws) to perform the minor upgrades, I am confident that my money and time were well-spent. It is a snappy desktop with plenty of legacy i/o.

Rating: 5/5 Replacement for a workhorse March 9, 2022 I had a hard drive crash on the primary computer used to produce our weekly newspaper. Although I have a brand new iMac, a Mac mini runs some legacy software used to access our back-issue archives. I first sent the damaged drives to a disk recovery company that said it could cost $1,000. They couldn't deal with 2 integrated drives & forwarded them to another company that quoted me $3,300 with no guarantee they would succeed. Instead, I bought a refurbished computer (with a hard drive & a solid-state drive that matched what had failed) from OWC - who also installed OSX 10.5 to run the old programs. Time Machine reinstalled all that was lost & everything is now running smoothly.

I was hoping to avoid the hassle of removing all the 32 bit applications but I spent a day cleaning out those files from the 2010 Mac mini and I'm glad I did. Rating: 5/5 Truly Mint Condition! September 2, 2021 The Mac Mini works great, and looks great too! It really is mint and unblemished. The only issue is the very cheap power cord that came with it. I replaced it with a better one. One other issue with this particular model is that the Mini will not wake up a third-party monitor. So I have to leave the sleep mode to "Always on." but other than that, it works great! Using a 4k TV as a monitor and it looks amazing! I have this at my cabin, for checking email, streaming videos, and browsing the internet.

Just the box, I have my own monitor, keyboard, speakers, external DVD, etcEtc. Everything plugged right in, migration was painless, and I was back up and running. I've been using it for the last year with no problems at all.

Fast, fast, fast. I just love this system. It's my developer engine. Runs Xcode, emacs, simulators just fine. Even works good for Photoshop CS6.

After delivery, I had a question about the installed MacOS -- El Capitan. I was curious as to why the most current MacOS -- High Sierra -- was not on the machine. After a complete and thorough explanation by OWC's Customer Service Department, I understood why any change from the advertised product would incur an addition fee; it takes time to customize or make any change from what is initially advertised.
