Rating: 4/5 Great machine with a minor annoyance July 2, 2024 This was a fantastic computer for what I needed. The only issue is a known Apple defect which happens on Retina 5K Macs running Big Sur (lookup image retention or image burn....minor issue for me, but might be more serious for others.) I tried getting a replacement from OWC, but it had the same issue. Somehow this was missed before they sent it to me so I had to pay the shipping to return it. They did agreed to refund part of the shipping cost though which I appreciated.

The other issue is that it was on a older version of Mac OS X . I had to update to be able to use my Migration Assistant to load over from my Time Capsule.

Other then that, it is excellent. Small issue, Should have had a keyboard. Fortunately I had one to use.

I recently have upgraded relatives Mac minis and iMacs and decided it had been long enough for me to buy a newer model iMac myself. I almost went brand new and customised to my wants and needs but chose a Used/brand new sealed instead. I saved so much over new and it had what I considered it needed to be competitive. And I transferred over my previously bought 1TB OWC SSD. Relatively quick and easy installation for me as I had upgraded my Mid 2007 24" iMac several times to keep it fast and current as possible. The newer slim design of the HUGE 5K 27" display was worth it alone maybe but the speed of startup and tasks was phenomenal also. I'm glad I got 11 years out of my first brand new made to order iMac. It is a testament to their engineering design and quality built machines. I shouldn't have waited so long...

First OWC, since this is their site... :-) I am amazed that I ordered this at 7:30pm PST and received it the very next day (on a Saturday no less!) when I paid ZERO for shipping, which was supposed to take 5 business days. I've never seen anything of the sort before, and I don't even know how that is humanly possible with such a large/heavy/limited stock order.

And the computer itself is completely as advertised, in immaculate condition. I can honestly tell zero difference between my refurb unit and a brand new one. And pricewise, OWC offered the same speed iMac with 24GB of RAM for less than if I'd have bought it from Apple with 8GB of RAM...and on top of that, it's tax-free for me via OWC which saved almost $200 in and of itself!

Now the Apple praise... An incredible machine, and a gorgeous screen. I'd frankly never know it was a 2-year old computer if I didn't know I purchased a 2-year old computer. I had been miffed that Apple didn't release any new desktops this year because I really needed one but I guess I can understand why... This thing performs fantastically! So I guess I'll just be happy not paying more for specs I don't really need just so I can say I got something "new". Instead of new, I got a steal of a deal, and it will still last me for many years to come.

If you want a desktop Mac, you are not going to find one better anywhere for the price.

With those answered I went ahead and placed the order. Two days later the machine arrived and was just as described on the website: that would be, in "as new" condition. It's difficult to make a direct comparison with an identical new machine because this was slightly out of the year range currently sold. However, based on a closest match I would have saved between $1-2000.

I doubt I'll ever buy a new Mac again, just head over here instead.

My iMac was in pristine condition. NO fingerprints, scratches etc. It was packaged VERY well. I had ordered a new iMac from a large big box store a few weeks ago but I was not happy paying what they were charging (and only getting 8gigs of RAM etc). The refurb unit looked exactly like the brand new one (clear plastic cover on the screeen and then the white fabric cover on top of that, there is really no way to tell that this is a refurb!

Ordering and shipping could not have been easier. Since I live in Canada, I was worried about having an expensive computer shipped. There is an option for shipping called PuroPost. Using this method calculates all shipping and taxes for you. There are NO extra fees you have to pay when your package gets to your door. I was a little confused as to who would be delivering my package. It is a combined effort between Puorlator and Canada Post. Canada Post will be the carrier who delivers it to your door.

Rating: 5/5 Great Value in a new 27" Retina Mac August 25, 2016 This was my first Apple/OWC refurb purchase. I was very pleasantly surprised at the condition - as new of the computer and it's speed and retina display lived up to my expectations. Also got a great deal on extra memory at time of purchase so instead of the stock 8gb aApple is now doing this one has 24gb which comes in handy with Photoshop and Lightroom. The fusion drive and has the 128GB of SSD not the lesser number in the current 1tb Fusion drvies. This computer lives up to my expectations for more speed, more memory and faster drives and higher res display. And it didn't cost me the arm and a leg that the new model with equivalent specs would cost.

Rating: 5/5 Reconditioned is better. August 20, 2016 My I.T. friend recommended to buy "reconditioned" - the equipment that has had any surprises pre-fixed before you get it. Makes sense, sort of. So I tried an Apple refurbished product and was very blessed and have now done it several times. This iMac was a breeze to set up and I also had purchased Apple Care as if it was new. Apple set that up over the phone for me with the most friendly helper. EVERYTHING about this purchase was great.

Rating: 5/5 Excellent Value July 30, 2016 This Apple 27" iMac (2014) 3.5GHz Core i5 arrived in like-new condition. I used it to replace an older 27" iMac. It's much faster and I really like the hybrid drive. Very fast boot time. Since I do a lot of photography and Photoshop work I upgraded the RAM to 32GB with OWC memory. I also purchased a Thunderbay drive enclosure to replace my older eSATA enclosure; much faster! So far, I'm extremely pleased with the performance of the entire package. I've been ordering from OWC for quite some time and have never been disappointed.

Rating: 5/5 New iMac 27" July 24, 2016 I recently upgraded my older (late 2009) 27" iMac to the latest (refurbished) model and could not have been happier with the service and product from OWC. The new USB3, thunderbolt and sata3 connections are blazingly fast. I have been a mac user since early 2000 and this is a major piece of computer. The great bargain to upgrade memory from OWC was a great inducement for me also. This is a wonderful machine at a great price. Highly recommend the company and their products.

Rating: 5/5 Nice Machine! May 13, 2016 My last iMac was the first edition of the intel iMac configurations, it has served us well, but at last was not upgradeable to the latest OSX. This new iMac is simply outstanding...24gb of ram and a terabyte fusion drive...woah, I'm blown away!
