Rating: 3/5 Screen Damage is Not “Excellent Condition”; Partial Refund Appreciated April 11, 2023 When buying a 27” iMac, the screen is the most important part to be in “excellent condition”, especially when the machine is advertised as such. This unit came with minor damage: LCD panel blemish (probably caused during service work, possibly by a harsh cleaner) in the lower left corner, and a small scratch in the exterior glass, near the center. Exterior dings and marks aren’t functional problems; screen damage IS a functional problem. The better news is that, once I sent photos and a request for a partial refund to make the cost more in line with the actual condition of the machine, I feel that OWC did an acceptable job of addressing the issue (I did NOT want to deal with shipping a return, more delays on having a newer machine, etc., so I chose to just keep the machine as is). However, I do want to indicate three stars for this purchase experience due to the machine not being in advertised condition, and also the long wait period from customer service (managers?) in answering my request for a partial refund. The customer service people I interacted with were polite and I have NO complaints with them. I normally have no issues with OWC. This is my only imperfect, non-5-star experience so far, in years of purchases. I’m not put off, and I do plan to continue purchasing products from OWC at this point. The 2017 5K iMac itself is an excellent upgrade for me from my 2011 iMac. I’m actually able to play quite a few games I didn’t think I would be able to play (Bootcamp Windows 10) on this hardware. The retina resolution is amazing, and my photography looks so much better on this machine than my older one. I’m no fan of all-in-one machines, but I needed SOMETHING new, after all this time, OWC has reasonable used options, and the hardware upgrades between 2011 & 2017 models are impressive (if only Apple would stop breaking the OS).

Rating: 5/5 Excellent second-hand iMac October 31, 2021 Replaced my 12,2 iMac which could no longer cope. Very pleased with this purchase, despite some unnecessary complicated customs delay (shipping outside U.S.). Some minor cosmetic wear & tear on the machine. OWC upgrade to 2 TB SSD (although I did not know it would be a PCI-Ex disk......which however means I can use one of my "old" SSDs and add even more storage). Upgraded OS to 11.6, performance is still excellent, perfectly sufficient for a few years to come (or at least until Apple drops Intel support completely)

Rating: 1/5 Never again August 18, 2021 We have been customers for many years and have also always been satisfied. But what we have now experienced is beyond imagination: We ordered an iMac for our office in Amman (Jordan), which then also arrived after three weeks. What nobody told us: The iMac has no keyboard and no mouse! An iMac without a keyboard and mouse is like a car without wheels. If you sell an iMac, you should sell it completely. According to Apple, an iMac is only "complete" with keyboard and mouse. This is a total customer screw-up - we also made a phone call. The audacity and impudence of the "customer service" cannot be described. He referred to the product description of the offer. After consulting with Apple, we will now have this matter clarified in court and have first reduced the invoice.

The price was probably half of what I would have paid had I purchased new, plus I was able to max out the RAM and SSD storage to get exactly what I wanted. Because computer performance and software has largely stabilized, it is no longer necessary to have the newest computer on the market to have great performance. In fact, I get better performance from my OWC refurb iMac (because I was able to max out the specs), than I would have if I had compromised and ordered the latest from Apple with fewer options. Tap the space bar and it wakes up instantly. The rechargeable keyboard & mouse are so nice. One charge lasts weeks. No more buying batteries! (Note: The reason the mouse can't be used while charging is that if it was plugged in while in use, the electric cord would get bent back and forth so much it would break.) We love this machine. ??
