Rating: 3/5 Simple no-nonsense stand for iPad/Tablets January 26, 2018 I was looking for simple mobile stand that I could use as needed as I moved around the house, either for reading, composing emails/documents, or just viewing videos/movies. Also useful to as a temporary screen alongside my laptop.

The stand works as advertised - you can use your own lightning cable which conveniently fits into a smooth cut-out notch on the back of the stand to keep it neatly out of the way. The portion that holds the tablet is rubberized so +1. However, this will not work as well for thicker tablets or iPads that have a cover on them. If using one of the newer iPads with the new cover that exposes the left edge of the device, that's fine. However, when placing it in portrait mode (with the iPad cover on) despite both being made of plastic/rubber, the iPad tends to slip out, falling backward (I have a 9.7" iPad Pro).

As long as you stick to mostly landscape mode - this is a reasonably priced solution.

Rating: 5/5 Essential product, especially for kids March 27, 2017 I thought I'd end up using this most in the family, as a prop-up for the iPad when using it as an external screen on my MacBook. But it's found its true purpose with my son. We limit his time on the iPad and monitor his usage, but frequently find him laying down with this face stuck in the screen, and we are concerned with his eyesight. Requiring him to use the stand on a table, at an appropriate distance and seated alleviates much of our concerns. Now it's just a matter of watching what he finds on YouTube... sigh....

It's also the perfect weight to keep the iPad anchored, and the groove is exactly right. It may be a "dumb" product, but it really is brilliant!

Rating: 4/5 Works for both iPad and closed MBA May 1, 2015 I bought one of these originally to serve as a stand for an iPad 4 (pre-Air) and it worked well. I use in the kitchen and anywhere else in the house I wanted the iPad to stay upright and off the table/counter.

I also discovered it holds a closed 13" MacBook Air via the front, with absolutely no lack of stability nor any indication that the laptop will come crashing down. In fact, this setup is now my wife's preferred method of connecting her MBA to an external monitor. Unintended use, for sure, but no problems at all using in this fashion.

I'm using it with an iPad 3 and even when I put the iPad in it in landscape mode, the iPad tips over backwards very easily when I touch the screen.

Rating: 4/5 Thin tablets fall over December 10, 2014 On first use of the Griffin Loop Tablet Stand, iPad 1 worked fine. Both iPad 3 and iPad Air slid right out of the notches and fell over, in both portrait and landscape modes. Notches need more angle or an indentation at the bottom for the thinner iPads to catch on better. I may try some things to make the rubber coating less slippery. Otherwise, it seems built well for the price and would be great for FaceTime, kitchen use, or reading.
