Convert SATA drives for use in your PowerMac G4

Rating: 3/5 This product is great but not for me. October 12, 2013 The "LG 'Super-MultiDrive' DVD DL/CD Internal IDE/ATAPI Kit - Up to 24X DVD, 48X CD Burning" was easy to put in and is capable of reading CD's and DVD's quickly. It's burning where the problem comes in. I put this optical drive into a G4 MDD that has the IDE/ATA interface. Because the LG DVD Super Drive is designed with a SATA interface, a conversion kit was supplied, as recommended by the sales department. Problem 1: I ran into some difficulties while trying to hook up the new drive and the old drive, in tandem.. The factory installed, 40-pin ribbon cable was not long enough accommodate both drives at the same time. Problem 2: While the LG drive was able to read both CD's and DVD's, It was not able to write files larger than 200K before losing the connection and "not responding". This issue was traced back to the "IDE/ATA to SATA" conversion kit. I stress the LG Drive was not the problem buit the conversion kit is!
