I didn't receive the LG player but I received a Hitoshi player instead. It is a good player so I am ok with the switch.

I wasn’t sure if a standard internal DVD drive like this would work as a replacement for the innards of a failing external drive, but it did. The toughest part was figuring out how to disassemble the external drive. In addition, I expected that this 24x JVC drive would be at least a dozen years old and was pleasantly surprised to find it was manufactured in 2020. My only complaint is the cost of shipping, which seems excessive compared to other major online vendors.
