Rating: 5/5 Great customer service August 4, 2020 The first battery I ordered was delivered within a week and after installation. I found that the battery was faulty as it was draining a fully charged battery within hour. Disappointed and frustrated, I called customer service and was surprise on how fast I was able to work with support representative (Derek J) to resolve the issue.

They sent me a new replacement battery free of charge that I received 3 days later and i didnt even need to return the faulty battery. Great no hassle customer service and will definitely order more replacement parts here if i ever need to for my mac laptop.

Rating: 5/5 Excellent Replacement Battery 15" Macbook Pro July 8, 2020 My trackpad was very difficult to push (to click) on my late 2013 Macbook Pro. A quick web search told me the batteries were swelling and putting pressure on the underside of the trackpad. Bought this kit and couldn't be happier. Took only about a half hour to do using the alternate method I found in a youtube video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfHHIERH2J0

I also referenced the video here on owc's website for the first steps and for calibrating the battery afterward. The only suggestion I might add would be to try using dental floss instead of the thicker cord. I reckon you could take them out with almost no acetone that way. You'll see what I mean when you see the video. Also, wear some mechanic's gloves or something a bit tougher than the latex ones. I rubbed the skin off a couple of spots on my finger with the cord. Lastly, place the battery pack high up to line up the screw holes in the connecting harness and practice placing it before removing the stickers from the back of the new battery pack. There is some leeway on that connector so if it's close you'll be fine. Anyhow, great product. Trackpad works great now and the computer sits flat again. Thanks OWC!!!

July 5, 2020 The replacement battery for my Mac was easy to identify, shipping was prompt, and I am once again very satisfied with OWC's performance. Further, as an IT professional, I was able to carefully follow the directions from their available instructional video and safely replace the battery using the tools provided. There is no better place to shop for Mac support products!

Rating: 5/5 Scary process, but worth it July 5, 2020 My Late 2013 15" MacBook Pro battery swelled and the trackpad didn't work properly. After reading and watching countless YouTube videos, I decided the take the plunge and replace the battery, accepting the risk of messing it up and bricking the laptop.

It's definitely not for the faint of heart especially if this is your first time. I watched OWC's video several times before the battery arrived to help me familiarize the process.

Of course, the MacBook Pro in the video is slightly different than mine, but I managed to figure it out. The battery was indeed swollen, but luckily the disassembly process was fairly straightforward. I didn't have to use the adhesive solution in the kit as I used the plastic cards to slowly and carefully removed the battery.

I also took the opportunity to thoroughly clean the dusty interior as well as replace the stock SSD which I also purchased from OWC. This was very easy to do.

During reassembly, I managed to mess up a couple of steps. One was the keyboard light cable that I didn't check and was buried beneath the logic board when I put it back in. I had to loosen some of the screws and used a spudger to fish it out.

The other was the cable that connected the logic board and the right side (USB, card reader). I installed it backwards and the machine refused to turn on. Once I recognized the mistake and fixed it, the machine tuned on without a fuss.

I didn't realize the swollen battery actually blocked the air intake vents. My machine constantly ran hot with the fan running full blast before, and now it's nearly whisper quiet--it's like a brand new laptop!

One thing I didn't do was to remove the adhesive on the new battery. I figured if I need to replace this battery, it would be simpler to remove.

Rating: 5/5 Patience required, worth it July 4, 2020 As usual, the installation video was spot on. Every thing needed is provided but for a little patience in watching the video BEFORE attempting install. Worth your time considering the cost of professional install. That done, it's easy if you really have at least the entire hour they suggest, and that's not including drying time. The battery works great with restoration sustained usable time between charges. Wish I would have replaced it sooner and do not recommend waiting until laptop signals need for change. By then I was down to running it plugged in most of the time.

Rating: 5/5 Great Option to replace you Mac Book Battery July 3, 2020 We started getting a system warning that our battery was having issues. The number of cycles was pretty high and the battery life was getting very short. I have had excellent results with OWC and did not hesitate to get the battery replacement here. (I mean, why risk getting substandard batteries to save a few bucks?) The kit was very complete and the instructions were thorough. I took my time, which is always a good strategy. I cleaned everything as I went along and vacuumed out the crumbs and hairs, cleaned out the fan blades, etc. I really have no helpful hints that were not already covered in the online instructions. The results are great. The computer is back to its longlasting self and everyone is happy! Once again, there are a ton of choices out there for battery replacements, but I did not want to take a risk (other than depending on my ability to do the job!)

Rating: 5/5 A challenging upgrade, but a satisfying experience July 3, 2020 Although it's showing its age in a few respects, my 2013 MBP is still a fantastic machine. So when the battery gave out, I thought I'd try the repair myself with a kit from MacSales.

There was one small (but significant) problem: the MacSales how-to video I was told to follow, while fantastic in most every other respect, did not match what I saw when I opened up my MBP. A few calls/emails with the support staff didn't really help. The folks were helpful and polite, but response times were slow, and eventually it was up to me to figure out which video I needed to follow. Even after the fact MacSales support was mystified that my unit's serial number didn't match what they thought it should match. Since I am the first and only owner of my MBP, I think it's safe to say that a bit more careful research might be required to match machines' serial numbers with the appropriate video instructions.

BUT I'd do it all over again. The replacement battery and kit were of excellent quality, and my machine is humming along again pretty much like it just came out of its box on Day 1. I'm very pleased with the quality and value of the product and very proud of having performed the repair myself.

Rating: 5/5 OWC does it the best June 1, 2020 My 2013 MBP has new life thanks to this battery and the excellent instructions and tools that came with it. To be honest, they rate this repair "difficult" and recommend a professional do it, but I'd rate it more "moderate." OWC's video walked me through it and other than the middle two cells needing a little more work to get the adhesive loose, everything went according to plan. Now my MBP has great battery life again and I swear it's working faster/better (probably due to errors caused by a failing battery before). And their price was the best I found, at least not counting sketchy sellers on Amazon with who-knows-what kind of quality of battery they were selling.

Can't recommend it highly enough.

Rating: 5/5 Macbook Pro battery install worked perfectly (almost) May 27, 2020 The video was very helpful. It matched my Macbook Pro. Instructions were excellent. The only problems I had were during assembly. The main board covered a couple of the short cables which required some back tracking. The instructions in the video mentioned this. I was just a little too enthusiastic at this stage of the install and didn't pay attention. Totally my fault and no harm done. The battery design is excellent. I'm not sure why Apple decided to use such a painful battery design. I've replaced batteries in non-Apple laptops and it was a breeze. Clearly, Apple wanted us to buy a new laptop or pay 4X to have Apple replace the battery.

Thanks to OWC for providing this needed part and procedure!

Rating: 3/5 Mediocre Battery Performance May 6, 2020 I consider myself to be moderately tech savvy. I once worked for Apple and I've always been pretty adept when working with computers. Recently the battery on my Macbook Pro Early 2015 Retina began to hold a charge for approximately one hour. I decided to take it upon myself to replace my battery, especially since Apple stores are closed during COVID-19. It took some time, but after a couple hours, I successfully replaced the battery. Unfortunately, after a few days, my trackpad and keyboard stopped working. I reinserted the ribbon that connects this hardware, but it did not fix the problem. Ended up buying a new ribbon, and it still has not fixed my trackpad/keyboard. I was extremely careful and followed all of the instructions for replacing the battery, so I have no idea why my keyboard and trackpad gave out. Not only this, but the battery, while it works and holds a longer charge than the one previous, does not hold anything close to the original performing battery life. It holds somewhere close to 2.5 hours while running various applications, next to the original 9+ hours.. Ultimately I am disappointed in this purchase but the battery is not necessarily bad--just a word of caution when deciding to manually replace your battery without professional assistance, even for those who are savvy with these kinds of things.

Rating: 1/5 New Battery for Macbook Pro April 4, 2020 I received the battery in a few days by selecting fedex ground shipping. I had a local pro 3rd party swap the batteries. I noticed that a battery calibration needed to be performed per this manufacturer’s website. For the next week I performed battery calibration as instructed. The battery drains from 100% down to 7% in less than 30 minutes. I contacted support via Chat and was told to take the MacBook Pro apart and try one last thing. That didn’t work so the following morning I contacted support again and was told that I needed to send the battery back so that they could test it to verify the battery was bad. I was told a new replacement battery couldn’t be sent because they had none. I apparently purchased the only remaining battery. Lucky me. I was told that the refund could take 30 days or more and they’d send me a replacement, if I wanted, whenever they have one. I decided that this product and service was not acceptable and I asked for a refund. I must purchase a new replacement battery elsewhere, have the pro 3rd party swap the batteries so I could send the bad one back and wait at least a month to get a refund. Since I paid via PayPal with guarantee protection, I’m contacting PayPal to reverse the transaction so that I’ll be able to pay the 3rd party for their battery. I’m not waiting for a refund at their convenience. This is in the first 2 weeks of the coronavirus lock down but OWC doesn’t care what I need or that their Chinese batteries are garbage. I will never shop OWC again!

Rating: 5/5 Easy, straightforward March 31, 2020 I was hesitant before buying a battery for my 2015 MacBook Pro. I have no IT experience and know there are risks involved when replacing computer parts. MacSales gave simplistic and easy directions with their YouTube video. Rating: 5/5 Great Instructions - one (or two) cautions on install March 28, 2020 I waited a while after buying the product to do the install. I watched the video twice before starting. When I did the install, I carefully kept all the screws and parts together - tip place some double sided tape on 3x5 cards and label the assembly (e.g. SD Card). I also drew a small diagram on the card showing the location of the screws on the card/part and then put the tape over them and put the screw on the diagram! This all worked great and all the parts came off as advertised. CAUTION: When I went to loosen the battery all went well until I got to the center two cells. The video does not warn you that right under the two cells is a square plate that covers the back of the track pad. The adhesive remover will also get under it and loosen that plate! So when I took the batters out - what actually came out was the protective plate. I quickly got it off the battery, was able to reinstall it and then completed the reassembly. So be very very careful around that plate and the center two cells. I accidentally trapped two different small ribbon connectors under the Mother board (2 more disassemblies!) before I got it all right. Fired it up and it worked! I did have to adjust the tension screw on the trackpad - I had incorrectly thought it was part of the assembly holding the plate in place - it is not - if the plate comes off LEAVE THE SCREW ALONE!!! But alls well that ends well - I have a healthy battery that hold charge for over 5 hours of use now - great product - great value - assembly challenging but not REAL hard! Final tip - if you have some reading glasses or watch repair jeweler glasses - that will really help when you have to reconnect the antenna connections to the wireless card - they are really really small! I would HIGHLY recommend this product and self install if you are at all savvy about using tools!

Rating: 5/5 Great battery. My Macbook works like new! February 16, 2020 I have an old Macbook Pro from 2015. I've used it almost everyday the past 5 years for work, life, and leisure. My battery had become weak and unreliable after years of heavy use, so I decided to replace it.

After watching the instructional video and about 2 hours of work, I had my laptop reassembled with the new battery (I cleaned the fans and replaced my thermal paste too). Now my Macbook Pro runs like new! Not only is the battery life longer, but the CPU runs faster too thanks to the steady voltage from this battery.

I went from 2 hour battery life to 10 hours thanks to this repair kit!

Rating: 5/5 Easier than it seems December 16, 2019 Apple refused to cover my swollen battery in my mid-2015 MBP and wanted to charge me $200 which was bad enough, but said it would also take 3 weeks to get it done! I turned to this replacement kit at half the cost and a fraction of the turn around time. After watching the how-to video I thought I made a mistake, but most of the reviews said it wasn't as bad as they anticipated. In addition, I looked up other videos online and the majority suggested not taking out every component like the logic board and speakers. I can understand why MacSales wants to err on the side of caution, but I didn't want to risk damaging something else like my wireless card while taking it out. I also found others suggesting a different method for getting the batteries out which included some kind of thread rather than scraping it out with the included credit cards. I used a pretty thick nylon thread sawing back and forth across the adhesive and it cut right through like butter! As a result of these modifications to the process I was able to turn this repair around in less than an hour and the replacement battery worked perfectly right away. Stats even showed that the replacement battery was manufactured just two months prior to my order! Fresh off the line and adding many years to my laptop. No thanks to Apple!

Rating: 5/5 Laptop feels like new! December 8, 2019 I remember being very excited when I first purchased my 2012 MacBook Pro. Fast forward to today, still very happy with the machine, but an issues had been the battery; had to keep near an outlet most of the time, plugging in after about 45 minutes to an hour of use, at most.

Now with this replacement, I’ve ran it for 5+ hours, outlet free! I’m looking forward to using it more on the go (bus rides, train rides) and not rushing to squeeze in some urgent tasks before the battery dies.

I’ll be holding on to this wonderful machine just a little bit longer! courtesy of this wonderful product.

Rating: 5/5 Exactly As Listed November 5, 2019 The kit was exactly as described. There is no functional difference between the original battery and the replacement if you install it correctly.

The instructional video was clear and easy to follow.

The adhesive remover has enough warnings you'll think you're handling a thermonuclear bomb... it's really not that bad. You'll be fine.

A few caveats you should keep in mind: 1. This repair does *not* take 20 min. Be patient so you don't destroy your computer in the process. 2. You're going to have to remove more than a dozen tiny screws of varying lengths. Make sure you have a strategy to not lose them and also remember which ones go where. There are cheap silicone soldering mats you can buy that are great for keeping track of screw position.

I recommend watching the full install video before purchase. That will allow you to plan the full time line and flow of this project.

I categorize this as an Expert Only install because of the multiple complex connectors that must be removed and reinstalled.

The installation video does not show enough disconnect/connect detail for an intermediate installer to be successful.

Possible work around, find independent video on the net showing connection techniques.

In summary, I am once again pleased with this OWC product.

Rating: 5/5 It was a bit of work, but the surgery was successful September 28, 2019 When I opened my wife's MacBook Pro to upgrade the SSD card, I was concerned to find the battery packs were swollen like balloons - even though the battery health was reported as good. Since this is an early 2015 model and not eligible under Apple's recall, I was considering upgrading batteries myself. Have a friend with same model that tried to do upgrade himself with batteries from another company, and it did not go well. Not only did the battery not take a charge, but trackpad and keyboard did not work. He later ordered a battery from OWC and it worked, but also had to replace trackpad and keyboard (keyboard still doesn't work). So not wanting to have my wife's laptop down for weeks and not wanting to spend more on repairs, I watched the repair videos and took a chance with the OWC batteries. I was very careful with antistatic mat and wrist strap, and it took about 1-1/2 hours to replace - I was very careful to follow the instructions. The most difficult part was reconnecting the trackpad cable after replacing battery since there is not a lot of slack to maneuver the small ribbon cable into a very small connector. But it powered up from battery after it was reassembled, and after calibrating charge cycle it seems to be working fine (for a couple weeks now). I like the thoroughness of the videos, the strong cautions about attempting this yourself, and that you get all the parts you need. You just need a lot of patience to do this on your own, but the cost is small compared to authorized repair. I would strongly recommend using a wrist strap connected to an anti-static mat, otherwise the risk of damage to components in laptop are high.
