I thought it was a gimmick

Like my summary title above says, I thought it was a gimmick. But I was so tired of the Magsafe 2 connector not fitting correctly I decided to give it a try. For $10 how bad could it be. I bought this for my MB Pro Retina. I was surprised that the kit included 2 of them, plus a removal tool. I was able to fix my wifes MB Air at the same time. You can't beat that. The fit is perfect, now the connector fits correctly and tight every time, just like the original Magsafe connector. Too bad Apple has been forced away from Magsafe on the newer laptops. It's one of the best features ever invented. USB-c is "OK", but lacks the safety of the Magsafe.

Exactly what I needed!

I use my Macbook Air on my lap for extended periods while doing other things. The AC Adaptor kept popping out as I moved throughout the day. It didn't happen with my old Macbook Pro that I replaced. This new giz fills the overall gap around the connection ensuring that the attachment is more secure. Also, I found this item in a regular OWC email that I subscribed to.
