The Garage Album

Roger Adler

This innovative new pop-music album was created entirely and exclusively within Apple Computer's GarageBand software application. Adler, a Chicago-based independent composer, performer and producer, explored and used GarageBand's guitar amp simulations, built-in loops and included virtual instruments and effects to create a compelling mix of sound and style. Containing tracks reminiscent of traditional rock, R&B, blues, instrumental, electronica and funk, Adler conceived and created "the garage album" in a seven-week timeframe.

Lyrics

How Low Can You Go

You played me – you betrayed me
I never saw it for a moment in your eyes
You took me – hell you shook me
Your smile was a devious disguise
Your lips - your fingertips
Told me what I wanted to hear
But just who do you see
When you look in the mirror
Tell me do you know now honey
How low can you go

Your animal attraction was a fatal distraction
Now I know
You fooled me lord you schooled me
Taught me things I didn’t want to know
You hit me like a million volts
Had me jumpin to conclusions
But the secrets you were hiding
Could have saved me this confusion
Tell me do you know now honey
How low can you go – Just how low will you go

You played me – you betrayed me
I never saw it for a moment in your eyes
You took me – hell you shook me
Your smile was a devious disguise
Your hips - your fingertips
Told me what I wanted to hear
But just who do you see
When you look in the mirror
Tell me do you know now honey
How low can you go – how low will you go
How low can you go

Goodbye

You used to spend all night on the internet
Telling me secrets that you never told anyone else
Last night I couldn’t find you online
I can’t IM you
You never ever pick up your line
Ignore my emails– your cell phone is dead
See you tomorrow was the last thing you said

Don’t say goodbye to me
I won’t get any sleep
I’ll lie awake all night
Remembering how it would be
With you here next to me
Reliving history
Say anything but baby
Don’t say goodbye to me

We’d always sleep in on the weekend
We’d wake up with the sun in our eyes
Go to Starbucks like the first time we met
I had to laugh when you played hard to get
I checked the bookstore – covered the mall
No one has seen you no one’s talking at all

CHORUS
You used to cry on my shoulder
Talk in your sleep
Come to your senses
Come back to me

You used to spend all night on the internet
Telling me secrets that you never told anyone else
Last night I couldn’t find you online
I can’t IM you
You’re never gonna pick up your line

CHORUS

She's In A Mood

Been down this highway so many times before
I mess things up and she shows me the door
I can’t help wondering why I tear things up this way
And if she’ll take me back this time– I want back in to stay
Damn these four motel room walls
Don’t want to wear these lonely shoes no more

She’s in a mood – watch out
She’s in a mood
I can bail out or I can wait her out
She’s in a mood

I thought I understood her– I guess I proved me wrong
She’s really hung me out this time– I’ve never been gone so long
Even miss the silent treatment– when she’s this mad at me
She don’t like me much right now but I know she still loves me
Sweet talk and promises won’t buy me in this time
I’m gonna lay low and bide my time

CHORUS
Been down this lonely road a million times before
I mess things up and she shows me the door
No one can figure out why I tear things up this way
If she takes me back this time– I want back in to stay
Damn these four motel room walls
Don’t want to wear these lonely shoes no more
CHORUS

Rip It Up

Drinkin– Line Dancin
Gonna raise a little hell
Take it over the top
We’ll have some stories to tell
Ain’t nothing wrong with blowin off a little steam
Got the pedal to the metal
Like a NASCAR dad
We were built to boogie
We were born to be bad
Do a few shots– let the party begin
Wake up tomorrow start all over again

We’re gonna rip it up
Got this gin joint rockin
Gonna blow the roof off
We’re gonna tear it up
Got this juke joint jumpin
Gonna party non-stop - now look out
We’re gonna rip it up

All you city girls
Hold onto your hats
We’re a force of nature
That’s a natural fact
The dance floor is rockin and the drummer’s got that look in his eye
Steel guitar is cryin
The beers are cold
Ain’t no stopping us
We’re ready to roll
So many women and so little time
These good old boys have got em standin in line

CHORUS

Saved

When you walked into my world
I didn’t know what to do
Wasn’t lookin for a lover
Now I’m all tied up with you
For the first time in my life I’m feelin
Speechless and amazed
Didn’t know that I was lost
Now I damn sure know that I’ve been saved

You saved me
You saved me from myself – you know
You saved me
You did what no one else could do
Now I’m saved because of you

I’m my own worst enemy
Prove it time and time again
When love comes knockin on my door
I just won’t let it in
Why do I fight the feelings in my heart
Push away the truth
You’ve opened up my eyes
And now all I see is you

CHORUS

Closer 2 It

You dance around the truth
You can’t look this fire in the eye
Soul searching for the answers
This flame will sweep you higher and higher

Day by day
You’re moving closer 2 it

You can’t resist this gravity
As it pulls you closer to reality
You can’t believe you lost control
But life will take you where it wants to go

Day by day
You’re moving closer 2 it
