- A small number of 2012 units were shipped with the drive mounted in the upper drive bay rather than the more typical lower bay shown in this video. If you have a 2012 or later model, you will want to determine the configuration of your Mac mini's drives prior to ordering. To do this, open Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app and click on the grey drive icon at the left-edge of the window. If you see "Lower" after the "Connection ID" at the bottom-left corner of the window, you may proceed using the standard installation instructions. If you see "Upper" then you have a special configuration which will need additional components, and you will need to also refer to the Addendum video.
- Before attempting this installation, OWC recommends watching the associated instructional video in its entirety to determine your ability to perform this complex procedure. OWC assumes no responsibility for damage that may occur during the install.

Despite it being listed as "challenging", this is a very straightforward upgrade. Simply following the video along was enough to complete the job and have my (OWC purchased Mac Mini) now sporting 2 x 2TB SSDs and 16 gig RAM. So long as you don't rush & pile pile out the parts logically as you remove them, the job is simple and completed within an hour. I'm actually kinda disappointed that I can't expand this computer out any more, but oh well; I bought this to be a workhorse. And it is, but now even moreso. Thank you so much, both for the Mac Mini many months ago and this exceptional upgrade kit.
