Upgrade Your iMac with Confidence.
OWC's in-line solution is the only hardware digital thermal sensor on the market allowing a third-party SATA drive to be installed in your iMac. A convenient, plug-and-play cable, the In-line Digital Thermal Sensor eliminates fan noise and maintains proper system fan control through the iMac's System Management Controller. This innovative device is designed specifically for the iMac, requires no software hacks and ensures compatibility with Apple's built-in diagnostic processes.
The NewerTech AdaptaDrive has been benchmark test proven to deliver the same data transfer rates as is experienced when a drive is connected directly to the SATA data bus. The AdaptaDrive doesn't create a bottleneck or any performance throttling...it delivers pure data pass-through performance and drive use convenience from any 2.5" SATA 1.5Gb/s, 3Gb/s, or 6Gb/s hard drive or SSD.

Mid 2011 iMac rejuvenated
September 9, 2018
Yes, iMacs are not the easiest machines to fix or upgrade, but with care and the help of the DIY videos, changing a dead hard drive for an SSD is definitely possible. I took my time, followed the instructional video step by step, and now my mid 2011 iMac is lightning fast and feels brand new. I would recommend this item to a friend! Not knowing what I was doing, I needed to make sure I was purchasing the correct kit. I called and Customer Support walked me through everything I needed to know, including boosting my courage about doing this upgrade myself. Didn't feel rushed while all my questions were answered with patience and knowledge. Project was successful and in fact did it again with a second computer. Thank you MacSales! Speed for my ageing Mac...
December 7, 2017
Fitted the SSD with dismantling challenges. Most difficult part was to bing the Datas from my old spinning HD to the SSD. Can only recommend the product.
Delivery to overseas was also no issue.

DIY Kit for 2011 iMac's factory HDD: 1.0TB OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD.
April 19, 2017
This was my very first experience doing any kind of an upgrade on any computer and it was awesome! First of all the customers service at OWC is above and beyond any other online experience I've had. The sales rep showed me how to look up all upgrade info on my iMac and helped me make the right choices for what I do. I made my order and the components arrived promptly using standard postal service. While waiting for the parts I spent time watching the how to videos on how to change out the Ram as well as the Hard Drive in my iMac. I must have watched it least six times wondering if it could indeed be as easy as they made it look. Surprisingly, it was! I timed how long it was taking my iMac to boot up before I did any upgrades. It was taking one minute and six seconds to boot up. After the upgrade, my iMac now boots up in 24 seconds! It's like having a new iMac at a fraction of the cost. My mother-in-law was so impressed she had me order the components to do an upgrade on her macBook Pro. Keep up the good work OWC I look forward to a long relationship.
Sincerely,
John

Best Decision for Upgrade of iMac 2011 21.5
January 31, 2017
I ordered the 1TB OWC Pro SSD kit with adaptor and tools. I was able to install the OWC SSD 1tb Elite Pro into my iMac 2011 21.5. The installation video was tremendous and indispensable. The replacement went off without a hitch and although I had never opened my iMac before it was relatively simple. My 6 year old iMac runs so much faster. Boot time faster and applications open 4-5 times faster if not more. I'm just disappointed I didn't do this upgrade sooner. I use my iMac about 4 hours a day for work and I'm still so pleased after a month. Thanks so much for a great tool kit as well as the OWC Thermal Sensor. I've had no issues since upgrading. Thanks again! I would recommend this item to a friend! This review is from DIY Kit for 2011 iMac's factory HDD: 1.0TB OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD..
