- When using Envoy Pro 1A with drives that have a heatsink, the top cover of the Envoy Pro 1A should not be installed (should remain off). However, OWC does not recommend prolonged use without the cover. OWC does not recommend removing the heat sink – doing so may void the warranty for the installed drive. Please review the drive warranty before installation in an Envoy Pro 1A enclosure.

Just what was needed to solve a problem I had created for myself by not backing up an old Mac the one day before it failed. Pulled the stick ram, placed in this enclosure and the data was accessible, in particular, the one the one file that made the exercise worthwhile. Tech support at OWC is excellent.

This was a replacement for a failed drive and I was hoping it was the enclosure that had failed.. It was and the new enclosure saved the day. The failed enclosure was approximately 5 years old. It had started disconnecting and causing Disk Ejection errors then finally failed. I was so happy that the SSD (also from OWC) was undamaged.
