USB 3.0 benchmark testing conducted by OWC in August 2015 using 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 13-inch MacBook Air with 4GB RAM and 256GB SSD. Testing conducted on OWC Mercury Elite Pro with a 6.0TB HGST Deskstar NAS 3.5-inch SATA 6.0Gb/s 7200RPM hard drive with 128MB cache. Tested using QuickBench™ 5.0 Extended Test (20-100 MB) in 10 cycles, cache disabled with 30 ms read delay and 20 ms write delay. Results represent the extended test average.

Drive was easy to install, and I also connected another USB peripheral to it (force feedback joystick). Everything has been working flawlessly since I purchased it 9 months ago. Only noise comes from the drive. I did purchase a short USB extension from OWC to get it off the desktop - now I can hardly hear the drive at all!

Rating: 5/5 Works well and looks good March 3, 2016 These are being used as a pair of external drives for alternating Time Machine backups connected to a special-purpose mac mini which is used exclusively in the room where our exercise machine is. When the Mac Mini goes to sleep, they go to sleep. When the Mac Mini wakes up, they wake up. So they are as power efficient as the Mac Mini.
