Mercury Elite Pro Dual is the best dual-drive hardware RAID solution for creative workflows, project archives, and system backups where reliability and versatile performance count. With two fast hard drives, easily configured in multiple RAID modes at the flick of an easy-access switch, Mercury Elite Pro Dual is built to seamlessly integrate with any work environment from high demand production studios to your home office.
The Hardware RAID Workhorse
Reliable hardware RAID maximizes the full potential of two 3.5" 7200RPM hard drives in the Mercury Elite Pro Dual. It comes configured in high-speed RAID 0 mode for the maximum sustained throughput from your drives. With speeds up to 407MB/s, that's fast enough for HD video workflows. Configure the Mercury Elite Pro Dual in RAID 1 mode for the extra security of mirrored data, set up a span of the two drives, or use them independently.
Performance by Design
Mercury Elite Pro Dual features both high-speed USB 3.1 Gen 1 & eSATA ports to offer the connectivity and versatility to work with your current equipment at extreme speeds. A second-generation, free-flowing brushed-aluminum chassis with high-performance fan delivers cool, quiet operation. In addition, drive-activity LEDs give you an instant snapshot of the status of your RAID, and intelligent power management conserves energy and reduces wear by automatically spinning down the drives when inactive.
Support You Can Trust
Like all OWC products, Mercury Elite Pro Dual is built to the highest standards from design to delivery. Each unit undergoes rigorous lab testing for exceptional performance and reliability. It's also always fully backed by a comprehensive warranty and our legendary expert customer support team.

1. Booting in RAID 0, RAID 1, and SPAN mode are supported via both eSATA and USB.
2. When connected via USB, the following limitations apply when booting in Independent mode: only the disk connected to Port 1 is bootable when both drives are installed. If only one drive is installed, the disk will boot regardless of which port it is connected to. Please check the Assembly Manual & User Guide for more details.
3. When connected via eSATA, booting in Independent mode is not supported.
4. Not compatible with the following Seagate drive: Seagate ST8000NM0055, part number 1RM112-102, AND firmware version PN02. Please note that drives with the same model number but different firmware DO work correctly.

OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual high performance enclosure
0.6 meter (24 in) USB 3.1 Gen 1 Cable (Standard-A to Standard-B)
Rating: 1/5Poor PackingMay 3, 2021The included screw packet was torn; when I opened the enclosure, I had screws flying everywhere. It took me a while to track down all those tiny screws. I eventually found screws stuck in the cables.
The device itself seems to be working as expected.

Rating: 5/5Works like a charm!October 26, 2020This is just what I needed. For my current setup, this enclosure contains 2 x 8TB drives that act as independent Time Machine backups. Time Machine simply alternates each backup to the drives. Redundancy made easy! I've got it plugged into a USB 3.0 card on a tweaked Mac Pro 5,1 running Mojave 10.4.6. It's very quiet! Rating: 4/516 Terabytes! Easy add on to your MacSeptember 1, 2020I have to use an exclamation mark on the 16 tb capacity because at my vintage remembering when one Gig was HUGE! Makes me laugh now. To the review! Buy this array assembled and plug it into an available USB port and you are ready to face the storage requirements of HUGE photo and Video files. I am an amateur VLOGGER and had run out of capacity which this OWC RAID device has solved. I am now storing the larger files on this device as opposed to internal MAC memory. It is exceptionally easy to install....literally plug it in and your MAC will find it. The challenge is to move your existing files to the RAID location which in my opinion could be more easily done in the MAC system. NOT the RAIDS fault. I give it a 4 vs. a 5 because it is a bit slower than a flash drive would be and when in use it is audible with some drive access noises. Compare this with trying to achieve the same capacity with Flash drives the price difference is HUGE. I highly recommend this as about the least expensive way to significantly increase your storage capacity. And for its ease of use. Rating: 5/5Easy and FastJuly 23, 2020With my 10 year old iMac probably ending its life, I decided to move more than a Tb of photos onto an external drive. I needed them backed up too. The process was easy. The drives are quiet and fast, no hesitation while working in Lightroom. They sleep when I'm not working. Should my iMac go down, I have my photos safely stored on these twin drives and the rest of my files stored in Time Machine. Rating: 5/5Excellent, Fast & AffordableJanuary 31, 2019OWC / Other World Computing Mercury Elite Pro Dual 6TB 2-Bay USB 3.1 Gen 1 RAID Array (2 x 3TB)
Purchased this to use on my Windows 10 computer at home. Works like a charm. Using it in RAID 0 mode for video editing. Spins up very quickly. Very quiet too, not hearing any high-pitched noise from the fan that some people are reporting. Using the eSATA connection via a SATA-eSATA bracket which allows me to connect directly to the motherboard's SATA port. Read/write speeds are very good, much better than USB 3.
Only complaint I have, which others have as well, is that the lights are WAY too bright. I plan on opening the case up and taping some ND gel to the inside in front of the lights to darken them a bit.
Highly recommend this external drive enclosure for those looking for more drive space with quick read/write speeds.

Rating: 5/5I am so pleasedApril 12, 2018There was an issue with this drive - it kept on ejecting from my iMac Pro but a call to your support team and the problem was solved. The drive is super fast and I just love it. It is exactly what I wanted and better yet expected. This is why I buy from OWC. Rating: 5/5Great Raid enclosureApril 8, 2018I was looking for an enclosure for two identical bare drives and saw this one. I ordered it and it came in a few days. Popped in the empty drives, set it for RAID1, powered it on and in a few seconds it was ready to go. Attached to my MBP via USB3 and put it in service. It's been brilliant in operations, with a simple set of lights on the front to tell you about the stats of the drives. The LEDs are a bit bright, so I've turned the drive to one side to avoid having them directly in my eyes. The cooling fan is also audible above the quiet of my office, but I've put an old mouse pad under the feet and the noise is less noticeable. Other reviews have referred to the noise, but it isn't intolerable, just louder than anything else in the setup. Rating: 5/5Great enclosure to revive spare drivesMarch 25, 2018I bought this to turn two 3TB G-Tech drives that were collecting dust into a 6TB RAID 0 drive that I can use to edit off of. So far it's worked wonders. Great quality enclosure and I'm happy with the sturdy quality of the enclosed cables. Rating: 5/5Quality enclosure; many RAID choices.March 21, 2018I chose this enclosure to house a pair of drives I wanted to mount independently, and it will do that, however I could easily chosen one of three RAID options via the switch on the back. The quality of the machined aluminum enclosure is a rarity in these days of plastic. I have it hooked up to a USB 3.0 PCI card on my MacPro, but will probably hook it up to eSata if a port frees up. Very pleased. I would recommend this item to a friend!

Rating: 5/5Quiet and fastMarch 3, 2018I purchased this enclosure to set up a mirror RAID as a second backup for my digital photo files. I installed a pair of 4Tb HGST drives. It is very quiet in operation and with my eSATA connection on my old, upgraded MacPro, is very fast to handle these big files. Recommended. Rating: 5/5meets my needs easily and quicklyNovember 26, 2017Have installed two enterprise 3 TB drives and the unit is functioning as expected. Fan is a little noisier than I anticipated but that may only be a result of using it in a quiet office on a glass desk. High quality packaging and fast shipping as one would expect from OWC. Rating: 5/5work's like a charmMarch 26, 2017My buying experience at OWC has be really good. I've had questions and concerns that over the years they have been responsive to and very helpful with. My latest purchase, this 6TB external drive has worked like a charm out of the box. It's speed is eye opening. I'd buy it again if I needed more storage. Great place to buy with great support. Rating: 5/5Nice, cheap RAID enclosureMarch 15, 2017Easy to set up hardware RAID. The only thing I'd like to see is the instructions for changing the RAID setting printed on the enclosure somewhere as I'll never remember them and have to look it up on the website or save the instruction pamphlet. It's a sequence of a mode selector, power and a reset button--and I've already forgotten it. Most users will probably set it once and never need to change it, so maybe it's just me. Rating: 4/5Great case!December 22, 2016Great, well-built case. I purchased it with no drives. Adding the drives was a little annoying because the rubber feet included by the screw-holes on the case wanted to slide around with pressure, so it took some finagling to get them in. Once they were in, though, reassembly was a snap and had no further issues.
Only negative I can see is the lack of management software - there's no way to query individual drive SMART status, for example, even with an included tool or open source software like smartctl.
