OWC Hard Drive Bracket

for Mac Pro (2009-2012)

Updated for 2015, the OWC Hard Drive Bracket is the new universal standard to install any SATA hard drive in a Mac Pro tower, including the latest SATA hard drives which feature the new industry-standard mounting screw pattern. With screw mounting holes for all SATA drives, it's the drive sled built for compatibility, flexibility, and ease of use. .

Update your trays or use a spare
  • Rotate backups
  • Separate storage for individual clients or large projects
  • Simple, inexpensive way to transfer large files between two Mac Pro models
  • Utilize all 3.5" SATA and SAS drives including newer models of 6.0TB and larger capacities utilizing the new screw hole mounting pattern.
NOTE: These are compatible with the two standards of drive mounting and the screws are shorter than the stock tray so they are also compatible with drives with shorter screw hole depths, such as the Western Digital RE and RED.

Rating: 5/5 Just as expected July 30, 2018 This product perfectly matches the OEM sleds with the addition of the extra mounting points for the newer 3.5" hard drives. Same color, finish and quality as originals. This sled allowed me to install a new mount style 10TB internal HD in my 2012 12-core 'cheese-grater' style Mac Pro tower.

Rating: 5/5 This is what you need for large Drives February 22, 2018 It seems when manufactures went to 8TB drives, the bottom mounting screw pattern changed. This is the bracket you need for your 2009-12 MacPro to use these drives. OWC seems to be the only seller of these, and they are high quality.

Rating: 5/5 Sturdy November 5, 2017 No different from the standard Apple sled, but with hole options that allow for both old and new style drive hole configurations. I most appreciated the fact that each hole on the sled is surrounded by an identical small rubber gasket, just like the ones on the sleds that came with the Mac Pro.

Rating: 4/5 Prefect for any 3.5" HDD September 7, 2017 This is the prefect drive sled for installing large capacity 3.5" HDD. Most of them come with "non standard" mounting points now. Which means can't be installed properly without this sled.

For 6TB or below, it's possible to get a standard mount point HDD. But for 8TB or above, I haven't seen one so far. So, this sled is crucial if you want to max out your cMP's storage capacity.

Anyway, it's just a metal sled with the correct mount point. Build with very good quality, Nothing can really go too wrong.

I only give it 4 starts because for this kind of zero technology product, I expect the price can go a little bit lower.

Rating: 5/5 Allows use of newer HDs June 5, 2017 I purchased 2 8 TB replacement HD for my mid 2012 MacPro, only to discover the newer, larger hard drive had different hole configurations. This updated, replacement bracket works admirably. Appreciate whoever went to the expense and trouble to design this for 8,7, & 5 year old MacPros.

Rating: 5/5 Perfect for classic Mac Pro towers April 25, 2017 Fits my Mac Pro perfectly. Finish and quality are excellent overall – it matches the Mac Pro's silver paint. These sleds can be tricky to find, so I'm glad MacSales is keeping them in stock.

One thing to keep in mind – do not overtighten the hard drive screws on the bottom. The rubber grommets around the screws help to reduce vibration and you can damage them if you tighten the screws too much.

Rating: 5/5 What a nice metal plate. With lovely screws. April 18, 2017 What can you say about a simple part like this? It's a bent metal plate. It has screws. Unlike the sleds that came with my Mac Pro, the screws are in the right places for modern drives. This is good. I bought three.

My #1 slot already had an SSD sled (also from OWC) so it's apparently an insidious plot to take over my Mac, one part at a time. I'll keep an eye on that...

Rating: 5/5 OWC to the rescue... July 28, 2016 Do you know what's harder to find than a penguin-flamingo hybrid? A freaking drive bracket for a Mac Pro. They all shipped with four, but when you buy a used Mac Pro, seems like half the time it's missing one or more of the drive brackets. Where did they go? There is no other use for them than putting them into Mac Pro, so where do they vanish to? Are they like those socks that vanish into an alternate dimension leaving you with one striped and one checkered sock on the morning you have an important meeting?

This OWC drive bracket is better than the original. It has an extra set of mounting points, to fit more modern drives where manufacturers decided to 'shake things up' by moving the screw holes.

You can't go wrong with this mount, as long as you actually have a 2009-2012 aluminum tower Mac Pro. If you have a 2008 or older, OWC has a bracket for you; it just isn't this one.

Rating: 5/5 Perfect for newer hard disks June 24, 2016 The capacity of hard drives is astounding and getting larger all the time. My older Mac Pro (mid-2010) recognizes the drives with ease, but... There has been a change. The screw hole configuration on the newer drives is different. The Mac Pro came with sufficient drive sleds, but the sleds only accommodated the older mounting screw configuration. Enter OWC. A solution that is simple and not overly expensive. A sled that fits the 2009-2012 Mac Pro models that can actually mount older or newer drives. Perfect. Thanks OWC for making my life just a bit easier.
