  1. Use of a 2.5-inch SSD in a 3.5-inch drive bay requires an adapter bracket such as the NewerTech AdaptaDrive.
  2. Use of any SSD in an external enclosure is dependent on the power available from the enclosure. OWC Mercury Electra 6G and Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSDs are engineered for use in any OWC Enclosure that supports 2.5-inch SSDs.

    Great Mac Pro Classic Upgrade

    This provides probably the fastest SSD reads/writes available on the cMP at a reasonable cost. NVMe would be faster - but at a significant cost increase (and a little more configuration headache).
