Rating: 5/5 Outstanding option for data storage May 7, 2017 This past weekend, there was an electronics recycling event in my town. I gathered up my old external hard drives - mostly old raid units with 1 & 2TB drives - and wiped them for recycling. Then I recalled that I had just recently purchased the OWC Thunderbolt 2 Dual Drive Dock for the two 8TB drives I had to backup my archival movie copies, home videos and photos. So I set about disassembling those old Drive enclosures and retrieved the 3.5" SATA drives from each - a grand total of 4 drives equaling 6TB in storage capacity. The remains drive enclosure parts and circuit boards when to the recycler. I then purchased the Newer Tech bare drive static free storage containers, stacked them, and violá, I had significantly increased my flexible storage capability & capacity. I now have 2 8TB, 2 3TB, 2 2TB, and 2 1TB drives. The Thunderbolt 2 connection to my late 2014 27" iMac is super fast and the drives are whisper quit sitting on my desk next to the iMac. The Thunderbolt 2 cable supplied with the dock was just the right length. Overall, this is a superior option for onsite backups. I now do weekly checks on OWC for 3.5" and 2.5" hard drive sales. The ability to buy bare drives at much lower prices than enclosed ones is the major reason I bought the Dual Dock. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase!!

Rating: 5/5 Fantastic. May 1, 2016 This drive dock is sweet. Better built and better looking on my desk than expected and the performance is remarkable. I am finally able to take advantage of Thunderbolt on my drives that came in slower enclosures.
