Blazing-fast NVMe SSD performance meets massive capacity in this compact, dual-bay Thunderbolt storage solution. It’s perfect for everything from routine backups to high-bandwidth pro creative uses.

Edit, Ingest, and Backup in a Blink

The Mercury Pro U.2 Dual is powered by two enterprise class NVMe U.2 SSDs, so you can edit high-res files on the fly, ingest and duplicate dailies without a hitch, rip through the tightest of timelines, and backup huge music and photo libraries in a flash. While it offers blazingly fast performance with massive storage capacity, this compact solution is small enough to easily fit on a DIT cart, in a rack, or on your desktop.

Nearly 6x Faster SSD Performance

NVMe U.2 SSD use began in the corporate and server market, where ROI is defined in nanoseconds and dependability is paramount. Now, the Mercury Pro U.2 Dual brings enterprise-level performance and reliability to your home or office. Its NVMe SSD array utilizes Thunderbolt’s full data bandwidth to produce speeds up to 2269MB/s, nearly 6x faster than your typical SSD.1

Adaptable Flexibility

The Mercury Pro U.2 Dual easily handles any project backup and storage task you throw at it. Dual drive bays house two 2.5-inch NVMe U.2 enterprise class SSDs for ultra-fast RAID 0 storage to tackle nearly any data need imaginable. From personal videos to major motion pictures, from photo shoots to file backups... the Mercury Pro U.2 Dual gives you the necessary capacity and horsepower get the job done.

Reconfiguration Ready

Want to change your drive configuration for more RAID capabilities or additional storage capacity? There’s no need to buy a costly new enclosure. The Mercury Pro U.2 Dual is ready to change with you.
  • For cost-effective and streamlined RAID 0 and RAID 1 storage needs, configure each bay using a 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch NVMe U.2 drive; or configure each bay with an NVMe M.2 SSD with an M.2 to U.2 adapter, like the OWC ShuttleOne.
  • For more advanced RAID and capacity needs, configure each bay using an OWC U2 Shuttle with up to four NVMe M.2 SSDs per shuttle for a total of eight (8) SSDs.

Store More, See More, Do More

An extra Thunderbolt USB-C port lets you daisy-chain devices to your Mercury Pro U.2 Dual to expand your capabilities. Add up to five additional Thunderbolt solutions and merge them with SoftRAID for mind-blowing storage. Attach a 5K display or two 4K Thunderbolt displays. You can even place a USB device at the end of the chain. The Mercury Pro U.2 Dual gives you the freedom to use more of what you need.

Just Plug It In And Go

Nothing to set, nothing to worry about. The Mercury Pro U.2 Dual comes ready for performance use preconfigured in an Apple RAID 0 to get the most speed out of its two U.2 drives.

  1. Sequential read/write (max) performance based on testing Mercury Elite Pro U.2 Dual with 8 x 2TB Aura Ultra III SSDs in RAID 0 equipped connected to a MacBook Pro (16-inch 2019) with 64GB RAM and 2.4GHz i9 processor running AJA System Test (4K-Full resolution, 64GB file size, 10bit RGB codec, single file test). Each of the (2) U.2 drive bays are 2x PCIe lanes and support speeds of up to 1500MB/s. Max performance of 2800MB/s requires using both drive bays in a RAID 0 configuration.
  2. Requires use of DisplayPort to USB-C cable or adapter.
  3. Thunderbolt 2/Thunderbolt compatibility requires a certified Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 (mDP) adapter and a Thunderbolt 2 cable (not included). This configuration provides data transfer at up to 20Gb/s but does not support notebook charging.

8.0TB OWC Mercury Pro U.2 Dual High-Performance Thunderbolt SSD

I had several external Hard Drives daisy chained off of my iMac and was it not only hard to manage, one of the drives maxed and did not allow further saving. It was crippling. So after some research on SSD Hard Drives, the 8.0TB OWC Mercury Pro U.2 Dual High-Performance Thunderbolt SSD fit my performance, storage requirements, and budget. It has been a Godsend, as it quietly sits beside my monitor and hub, which is no longer burdened by the two external SSDs that have been formatted and readied for use should the need arise for additional storage space. I am very happy with my purchase, and if you are juggling external hard drives tor your music and film project, I highly recommend the 8.0TB OWC Mercury Pro U.2 Dual High-Performance Thunderbolt SSD. If you can afford it, a higher memory device, like the 16 and 32 TB units that OWC offers.

I would recommend this product to a friend!

    FAST and Easy Setup

I am using Kingston KC3000 SSDs, setup with RAID 0 via Apple. Is working perfect and very fast indeed. Waiting for another sale on the KC3000 to complete the population out and change to RAID 10. Very happy.

I would recommend this product to a friend!
