In addition to increasing the Ram on my 2011 Macbook I also decided to replace the hard drive with this SSD drive ... rather than buy a 2TB slower version at similar price I opted for this 1 TB drive with faster speeds and a longer warranty ... and I am very pleased that I did so The installation video guides showed me how simple it was to do so and the copious notes on their web site took me through the formatting stages and the transfer of my system and data .... and it all went extremely well My computer which was struggling with some of my newer applications (HDR and 360 Panoramas) now boots up in seconds rather than minutes and software and files load in less than half the time it took before I also recommend increasing your ram at the same time as doing this upgrade ... that has taken one particular render and save time down from over 7 minutes to less than 30 seconds Extremely pleased ... and quite straight forward for the less technical home user I used a Time Machine backup as I had El Capitan 10.11 ... I formatted the SSD by putting it in the external housing that I also purchased (for the old drive) and made that ready before taking out the old drive

Easy to install - especially if you have a Time Machine back up - works perfect, even though it took a while Time Machine has copied everything on the SSD. I now use my old HDD with the enclosure.
