Rating: 5/5 Perfect! April 26, 2018 I replaced myself the old HDD in my IMAC 2010 with this one and it is just perfect! After two months of use I can confirm no noise and it was very easy to install myself. A fast and reliable hybrid ssd.

Rating: 5/5 Mid 2011 27" iMac HD upgrade June 12, 2017 Original system came with a 1 TB HD. That drive has lasted 6 years. However, during the past year, the system became unbearable to use taking ages to switch between apps, start the system, basically load anything. The iMac was reduced to a glorified 27" screensaver of a spinning beach ball. Figured I was on life support for the HD.

Wasn't sure about the Hybrid drive upgrade at first. But I didn't think the 1TB SSD equivalent, while fast, would have been a smart move on an older system. At the same time, I didn't want to upgrade just to put an old style HD in either. So, got the 2TB Hybrid Drive from OWC instead and have been pleasantly surprised with the performance. Drive does take a couple of days to "spool up" to optimal efficiency. But to be honest, even on the first day of use my "beach ball" issue was gone and I had doubled my HD space. True, it's not as fast as an SSD but it will be a noticeable improvement over a standard HD from an iMac like mine.

final thoughts: 1-The OWC video walk through, and related print material, is a nice refresher if you haven't opened your iMac in awhile. Procedure is not as complicated as you might think. You just need to go slow, especially with the small connectors on the back of the screen. I wore latex gloves, just to avoid fingerprints. 2-If like me, you already have most of the tools needed for this upgrade you can skip the full upgrade kit and get this drive. However, you'll absolutely need to add the thermal connector, which OWC does sell on its own. Otherwise the full kit is a decent value if you don't have the tools. 3-If you have your old iMac box with the packing material, it makes a nice place to store the glass and screen while you do the upgrade. 4-if this is the first upgrade you've done on your older iMac, be prepared to behold a land that time forgot to dust...the inside is going to be loaded (your mileage may vary). Please use caution and common sense when blowing it out...and that includes where you blow it out! 5- a set of extra hands, from a stray 8yr old or 11 yr old, can come in handy during the screen disconnect ...just saying. 6-If you haven't done it already, you may as well add Ram at this point too. I did with the two remaining slots. Between both HD and RAM upgrades, system is like new.

Rating: 5/5 Great HDD for the price and ease of upgrade! March 7, 2017 I chose this Seagate drive for several reason: I wanted a SSD upgrade for my mid 2010 iMac, 2) for cost I needed to do it myself 3) wanted to be sure it worked and had a good long life. It has proven points one and two already with the noted exception that it is a hybrid SSD HDD which is completely satisfactory for me, the improvement is quite profound to me. It was not difficult to install using the OWC HD install kit with the necessary temp probe adaptor. I did have the cooling fan run excessively initially which the tech support at OWC was very helpful and patient and helped me troubleshoot my error and once I went back in and repositioned the cable and reattached the sensor cable all has been perfect since. Point three has yet to be seen but I am confident, and this drive has a 5 year warranty, which for any HDD for my use is outstanding.

Rating: 5/5 Fast Replacement Drive November 25, 2016 I finally got around to installing this drive as my boot drive. I had waited until Mac OS Sierra went to 10.12.1. It is noticeably faster (about 1/2 the start-up time) than the previous 1TB drive with Yosemite. My Apple Mail app also runs a lot faster. Since I had the new 2TB drive, I was able to do a clean install of the new OS & use Time Machine to migrate all of my settings & files. This is my first experience with a hybrid drive and I am very pleased with it.

Rating: 5/5 Brought life back to my 2010 iMac October 10, 2016 I bought this drive because my original drive was dying - taking forever to load simple programs, even web pages. This drive has worked like a charm! it's twice the storage of my old drive, but more importantly, this drive is much faster overall. It boots much faster and the programs I use frequently open super quick. Installation was a breeze, took less than an hour thanks to the installation kit and the additional thermal sensor I bought with it. Great product so far, very happy with this upgrade!
