- Select Canon camera users may experience the device locking up when powering on with inserted OWC Atlas Pro CFexpress Type B memory cards or other 3rd party memory cards.
- Affected Cameras:
- Canon R5 (Firmware 2.2.0)
- Canon R5 MK II (Firmware 1.1.1)
- Canon R3 (Firmware 1.9.0)
- Affected Cameras:
- Users may have this experience after performing a camera update. Canon's recent update introduced a bug in partition recognition.
- Memory cards formatted in macOS contain a 200MB EFI system partition that is locking the camera when being powered on.
Instructions
- The memory card should be removed and formatted in macOS with a “Master Boot Record (MBR)” scheme.
- Restart the camera by removing and reinserting the battery.
- Reinsert the newly formatted memory card and power on the camera.
