    • A Mac, PC, or tablet with a USB-C or Type-A connection (USB 3 or later), that is compatible with one of:
      • OS X 10.7.5-10.11.6
      • macOS 10.12 or later
      • iPadOS 13 or later
      • Windows 10 or later
      • Ubuntu Linux 20.04.1 LTS or later
      • Chrome OS 85 or later
      • Android support is limited but systems with sufficient bus power may work
  • Thunderbolt Connections
    • Mac with Thunderbolt 3 or later, running macOS 10.13 or later or
    • PC with Thunderbolt 3 or later, running Windows 10 or later

Features & Usage Notes

2.1 Enclosure Features

  1. LED Indicator – when used with Thunderbolt host computers, this light will display as solid blue when powered on and a data link is established; it will flash blue when accessing or writing data. When used with a USB host device, this light will display as solid green when powered on and a data link is established; it will flash green when accessing or writing data.
  2. Thunderbolt / USB-C port – attach the included cable here.

2.2 Usage Notes

  • With prolonged use, the drive case may be warm to the touch. This is normal.
  • May take 30 seconds or more to mount in iPadOS, Android, Chrome OS
  • If not detected by the host system and the LED blinks rapidly, this may be an indication the host device does not provide enough bus power for the Envoy Pro FX to function. Try another port or host device.

3.1 Troubleshooting

Begin troubleshooting by verifying that the included cable is properly plugged into the host device and the Envoy Pro FX. If the drive is still not working properly, try connecting the cable to a different Thunderbolt 3 (or later) port, or a different USB-C port on the host device. You can also try using a different host-port-compatible USB-C cable if one is available. If problems persist, please contact our support team for assistance.

3.2 About Data Backup

To ensure that your files are protected and to prevent data loss, we strongly suggest that you keep two copies of your data: one copy on your OWC Envoy Pro FX and a second copy on your internal drive or another storage medium, such as an optical backup, or on a second external storage unit. Any data loss or corruption while using the Envoy Pro FX is the sole responsibility of the user, and under no circumstances may OWC, its parent, partners, affiliates, officers, employees, or agents be held liable for loss of the use of data including compensation of any kind or recovery of the data.
