My 2013 macbook's SSD card died. I ordered a replacement from OWC - good price, timely delivery, but it appeared DOA. After lots of online tech chat with Apple, then a visit to the Apple store's Genius bar where they ran diagnostics, popped the lid, etc, they declared it DOA. I contacted OWC chat support for a replacement or refund, and was politely asked if I would run the prescribed diagnostic. The support person guided me through the many steps, but the drive was invisible. they transferred me to tech support who guided me through similar steps (this would be about the 6th time) to no avail, but then there was that one last thing to try. We had tried Command+option+R after power up several times before, but there must have been something slightly different because this time it saw the Aura drive and then I was able to reload the OS and we have our macbook back. I didn't give this 5 stars, because it should have been more plug and play, and tech support should have been more familiar with this problem and advertised how to solve it along with the shipped device. That said, the Apple Geniuses failed to solve it, and the two support people at OWC were prompt, polite, persistent, patient, very clear in their guidance, and ultimately did bring the mac back from the dead, so OWC has a new fan (the Apple store recommended them - I had never heard of OWC).
