How do I find system information in Mac OS 9.2.2 through 10.4.x?

To find the System Information for Mac OS 10.4:

 

   1. Click on the blue Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen and select About This Mac.

 

   2. In the window that pops up you will see the Operating System version as well as the Processor and Memory information for your Macintosh.

 

   3. Click on More Info, and on the left side of the window that appears, click on the arrow next to Hardware to view the list of devices.

 

    4. The window that appears is your Hardware Overview.  Here you will find most of your system information, processor type and speed, bus speed, ROM version, memory type/size/speed...

 

   5. Down the left side of the System Profiler window you can see several sub-categories.  Click on each for expanded details for that particular bus/feature/device.  For video card information, single click on Graphics/Displays to view your video card information, the name of the card will be at the top, and the memory will be listed as VRAM (Total) in the list below.

 

 

 

To find the System Information for Mac OS 10.3:

 

   1. Click on the blue Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen and select About This Mac.

 

   2. In the window that pops up you will see the Operating System version as well as the Processor and Memory information for your Macintosh.

   3. Click the “More Info” button at the bottom to open Apple System Profiler.

 

   4. The window that appears is your Hardware Overview.  Here you will find most of your system information, processor type and speed, bus speed, ROM version, memory type/size/speed...

 

   5.  To find your video card information click on the "Devices and Volumes" tab. Look for "PCI" in the list on the left and expand the "Built in AGP" field by clicking the arrow to the left. "Card Model:" will show you the video card make/model and its video memory total

 

 

 

To find the System Information for Mac OS 10.1:

 

   1. On the menu bar at the top of your screen, click on "Go" and select "Applications."

 

   2. Open the "Utilities" folder and open "Apple System Profiler."

 

   3. The first window you see is the System Profile page, this shows overviews of your system. Click on the triangles to the left of each overview to see the expanded information for each category.

 

      a. In Hardware Overview, Processor Info and Machine Speed will show you the processor type and speed.

 

      b. In Software Overview, check the System field to see the Operating System version.

 

      c. In Memory Overview, check the Built-in Memory field to see the amount of RAM your computer has.

 

   4. At the top on the System Profiler window, click on the "Devices and Volumes" tab. Look for "PCI" to get the name of your video card and click the arrow to the left of the card name to get the Card Type, this will show you the video card make/model and its video memory total.

   1. Click on the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen.

 

   2. Select "Apple System Profiler" from the drop down menu.
