If you have connected a MacBook or MacBook Pro host to the USB-C Dock and are experiencing problems, please make sure you are not using the Apple-supplied USB-C cable that shipped with the computer. Those specific cables are intended primarily for charging purposes and in the case of the MacBook will only operate at USB 2.0 speeds. When using Apple-supplied USB-C cables with the 2016 MacBook Pro models, no USB-C Dock functionality is possible other than providing a charge.

These behaviors are easily resolved by using the cable that shipped with the USB-C dock.
