ECC (stands for Error Correcting Code) RAM modules are a special type of module used in servers and workstations, typically in scenarios where there is zero tolerance for data errors. Two common examples include scientific computing and financial systems. If your Mac uses ECC RAM and the diagnostic software you are running indicates one or more ECC Errors with a specific module, it is generally a good idea to have that module replaced as soon as possible.
Please contact Technical Support if you need assistance.
Note: most Macs do not require or use ECC RAM – only Mac Pros (and previously X-Serve as well as Late 2005 G5 PowerMacs) shipped with ECC RAM standard.
