Dropbox is the popular “hard drive in the cloud” used by millions of people around the world, and today the company provided an update to the Dropbox iOS app. Normally a Dropbox app update isn’t something to get excited about, but the bump to version 3.9 adds some great features for collaboration.
Within the app it’s now possible to comment on a file or open up commentary to others through a new “Twitter-like” mention system. This is a handy way to gather comments on a document or get feedback on work. Dropbox 3.9 also adds a Recents tab for showing recently added or updated files, and there’s now a 1Password login extension that makes it easy to create or load a 1Password vault.
That’s not all, though — by the end of May, Dropbox will update the iOS app again to allow the creation of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents. Extensions will automatically transfer users to the appropriate app for creating the apps.
