If maximum speed is your top priority when buying an SD or CFexpress card, you’re doing yourself a disservice if you’re not investing in a good card reader as well. Here’s the science behind why a good reader can make or break card performance.

Nice to have a fast CF Express card reader. Is it an;e to read XQD cards also. Many of us photographers have bunches of those. Thanks
The Atlas cannot no, but that’s a good idea if we can build in some cross compatibility there! You would need a different reader for that spec.
Good information, but how do I know what speed I am getting when I put my SD card into an existing card reader or the Apple SD slot?
If you go into system report> hardware overview you should see the speed of the slot there, but you would need a third party app of some sort to see live speeds.

Great video, but– will a CFexpress card really work in a Mac Studio slot?
Best as always,
Loren
The Mac Studio supports these specs for SD cards: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204384
But you could use something like this for a CFexprese: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/TB3CFXRDR/
