Mac Pro 2019 Purchase

After talking to tech support to confirm the various type and quantity of ports especially the video decided to purchase the unit. It came within days of purchase and the quality of the system, was listed as very good but it appears, at least to me, to be in excellent condition. I was disappointed to only get a 250G SSD but that was the only option for the drive. I needed to make several other purchases so this would work with existing peripherals like ATA SSD, several standard USB A external devices and cables but they were minimal. Another added expense was had to replace my older Apple LED Cinema display as it would not display correct colors when plugged into a HDMI port with a mini Display port adapter needed monitor that accepted HDMI. I also had the memory upgraded to 96 Gigabytes I could have done this myself but easier to get it done at purchase. Ordered on a Wednesday, I believe, arrived the next day. Transferred my Sonnet PCI SD card and NVMeRAM card, no problems.
Now, I just have to figure out what to do with the 3TB of spinners in my 2008 MacPro and the information thereon.

Studio upgrade

Was looking for a new machine to upgrade my home recording studio and MacSales had the perfect machine. I have a (what looks like) brand new Cheese grater running ProTools Ultimate with an Avid HD Native card. 10 grand worth of computer for just under $2000. The machine is blazing fast. Better condition than I expected

Like new, despite not being "mint". Even the SSDs had only minimal use on them (still 99% life). Exactly as ordered, and would use MacSales again for future used computer needs. Excellent experience

Have used MacPros from 2008 thru 2012 for many years. OWC MacSales has assisted me in keeping them working and relevant, far past the shelf life of the machines themselves. This 2019 was a bit of a shock, so very much has changed with the design. It's unbelievably quiet and was well packed, with (per the norm for OWC) quick shipping. I wish I could use some of my older pcie cards from OWC in this new one, but I think they will be better served keeping my 2012 as a back, connected by ethernet cable to the newer machine. Fast as lightning...well, almost!

Ok, granted I am not a tech person but a well informed friend talked me through the purchase, given what I wanted to do. I am not doing anything super crazy but I do a lot of video editing and this sweet baby of a Mac has been outstanding so far. I've been able to do my editing as well as download GBs worth of photos in seconds. I could barely get the next file ready before the computer said: Feed me, Seymour! I am able to work and procrastinate at the same time with this machine, which I feel overall makes me even more productive! In addition, the shipping was fast and the set up was easy, after again consulting with my friend. Nice Mac, is the understatement of the year for me. Scratched and dented with a weird smell

Thought I was getting a good deal, but what I received was a banged up parted out headache inducing door stop. Couldn't keep up with a M1Max. I had added ram to 384 GB hoping that they were 64 Gb sticks, as that's how Apple configures the machine, but sadly they were all 32Gb sticks, so no possibility of RAM upgrade. The other issue was the smell. I don't know where this machine came from but the smell was noxious. It's great for heating a small space, but can't get out of Its own way when it comes to video editing. A superbly engineered masterpiece, but horribly outdated. Great Mac, wrong OS

The Mac Pro looks great and quiet as a mouse but…. the Mac came loaded with OSX 15. The specs listed on the site stated the machine would arrive with OSX 10.15 instead of 15 which is too new and not compatible with my external hardware and drivers. i had to purchase my work software specifically for OSX 10.15.
I’m trying to reinstall the OS to 10.15 with the assistance of tech support but no results as of yet.

Mac Pro 2019 horror story

I purchased a Mac Pro 2019 from own because of the known service that they provide for Mac’s. Well what I got was just not expected. I received the machine well packed but when I powered on the system it had MDM installed and not the welcome screen. Support was not available during times that were convenient for average people. Good Computer but Misleading Ads

I got the computer in pretty good condition - some scratches on top but they will be covered with gear pretty soon - and because I need an expandable computer with a lot of Ram this was perfect. So far I did not run into any issues with the computer so far and everything works just fine.
What I did not like was the misleading ad as it highlights the best configuration with the price for the lowest configuration and the difference is so wast that it is not even funny. So far, almost great system

When received, one of the PCI card slot covers was missing. This is a minor inconvenience (I have extra slot covers).
The system seems to be working well. No problems, other than with Apple having some sort of **** match with NVidia, not allowing us to use their superior video cards instead of having to use the slower Radeon cards with no CUDA processors. Oh well, life isn't perfect.
