Great Job MacSales!!!
I would recommend this item to a friend!I ordered a basic 8GB with 1TB HD machine with no keyboard or mouse. I added a 1TB SSD and four 4GB SIMMs. The whole upgrade took about an hour and then I ran a memory test for 24 hours.
With no OS on the SSD, I did an internet recover and installed High Sierra. BIG MISTAKE! Apple says a mid 2011 (12,2) will run High Sierra, my USB keyboard stopped working. After a day of trying to get it working, with no luck, I gave up. I installed Sierra and everything works perfectly!
The Apple developer and user forums have all kinds of issues with High Sierra and USB keyboards.
So, for half the cash of a new iMac, I have machine with an i5 quad core processor, 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD. All Software that was running on my 2009 iMac running El Capitan now runs faster on the new machine under Sierra. MS Office 2008 also runs!
I would recommend this item to a friend! This review is from Apple 27" iMac (2011) 2.7GHz Quad Core i5 - Used, Very Good condition.Yes, I need the DVD/CD burner and the SD/SDXC card slot at the side keeps me happy. But, I’m getting ahead of myself. The night I ordered the iMac was past the same day delivery time period and when tomorrow came I had the email saying my order had shipped. Good — that it had shipped — cause I could have questioned my hard drive (add an SSD drive) and memory choice (longing to max it out). FedEx handled the industrial grade box with care and delivered in the morning of the anticipated day, yet my setup had to wait for more pressing home demands.
Once I had the time, out of the box and onto my desk. The ample wrapping around the unit had me guessing where to start, while a few careful cuts later exposed a most remarkable computer. I had only one extra purchase required and that was a DVI to Mini DisplayPort adapter to connect my 20-inch Cinema Display (worked perfectly).
With power and network connected I found the start button and powered up. It may seem minor, yet I had to put the dock and desktop to my favorites, and then, from the Apple App Store brought in Yosemite. Looking back I should have prepared myself for the direct Migration from the MacBook Pro to the iMac, but hey, all roads lead somewhere, even if they take you in a roundabout.
Oh, the El Capitan OS X 10.11 update went in with ease and with all this real estate from the 27 inch screen, I’ll be using Mission Control and relegating my Cinema Display to my MBP.
Okay, you ask, “Any problems with the iMac?” No, none whatsoever! I think OWC was being very conservative with a, “Very Good” label. I rate this iMac 12,2 as EXCELLENT!
