Customer Reviews
My original Voyager failed after a few uses. The new Voyager Q holds up much better. I've been using one at work for a long time now as a down and dirty rotating vault backups on WD 4TB Caviar Blacks. I also have one at home for a range of drives. By popping a USB3 card into my Mac tower, the speed of the Voyager Q comes in very handy.

When my Voyager S3 dock began producing drive errors after years of use, I paid attention to OWC's brag about a better control board on this Voyager Q, but mainly chose it so I could use its Firewire 800 connectors, which I've found to be more reliable than USB connectors in general. It's plenty fast for my purposes, and my old iMac is stuck with USB 2 anyway. If I need the speed on my much newer laptop, I have the option to switch to USB 3 if I like. I prefer having the on/off switch right on top in front, instead of buried in the back, so that's another improvement. Only time will tell about longevity, but for now, I'm happy I upgraded to the Q.

Over the years I have accumulated a number of 2.5" and 3.5" drives that are now too small as internal drives, but they still work and are useful as backup or utility drives. This unit allows me to swap them in and out easily and to daisy chain to another Firewire device. I've been using it for about 5 months now and find it to be quite reliable and portable.
