My early 2009 17" MacBook Pro was promoted as having a great new battery design that was NOT user-replaceable. A friend encouraged me to go to OWC and try to replace it anyway. OWC's instructions were very clear, and I installed and calibrated the battery without any problems. Patience is needed to get the old plug safely undone and the new plug safely plugged in. Patience is needed for the calibration process. Once I booted my old computer with its new battery, the display screen was brilliant and beautiful compared to when it recently ran on the failing battery. I've read that the NewerTech battery implements advancements in battery design and manufacture that have been accomplished over the last 15 years (since my computer was new). I am very glad to have my beast running again with no spontaneous shut-downs. I am also able to keep using my old Music Notation Software, DAW, and Mic Pre-Amp/ADA interfaces. This cost about 2% as much as a new computer, software, and 12 channels of mic inputs. I am most pleased: Thank you OWC/MacSales/NewerTech!
