Aldrin’s New Institute Has Sights Set on the Red Planet

Globe-AstronomyThe rocket that we hope will take us there is in the testing stage. But before we go there, we will need a few bright minds to conduct a bit of research on how exactly to make that possible.

The “there” we speak of would be the planet Mars. And according to The Verge, the Buzz Aldrin Space Institute at the Florida Institute of Technology will be open for students this fall to help us colonize the Red Planet.

In case you haven’t guessed from institute’s title, the leader of this mission is none other than “the 85-year-old moonwalking astronaut” Buzz Aldrin. And Aldrin hopes that the institute will aid NASA in our eventual trip to Mars.

Aldrin, as we know, was the second man to walk on the Moon, and he has had his eyes set beyond ever since. Aldrin is quoted as saying “I see the Moon in a far different light – not as a destination but more a point of departure.”

We at the Rocket Yard sure hope that vision comes true one day soon.
